The Bucs dominated in all three phases of the game in a blowout win at home against the Bears. This one was really never close as Tampa Bay jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never slowed down. The defense was the catalyst with five turnovers in the game and Tom Brady found the end zone four different times as the Bucs coasted to a 38-3 win to improve to 6-1.
Here were the most impressive players from the game.
WR Mike Evans
Evans had a monster game for the Bucs and was unstoppable in the red zone, catching three touchdowns in the first half. Once Tampa Bay was inside the 20, it was curtains for the Bears defense any time Tom Brady looked Evans’ way. Someone needed to pick up some of the slack without Antonio Brown out, and Evans did that without even breaking a sweat. Evans finished the day making six receptions for 76 yards and three touchdowns.
S Antoine Winfield, Jr.
Winfield sure looked happy to be back after missing the last two games due to a concussion. He immediately put his stamp on the game by blitzing off the edge and getting the Bucs’ first of three strip sacks of the game against rookie Justin Fields. Winfield helped set the tone for what was a dominant game for the defense. Winfield recorded two tackles, a sack, which was his first of the year, and a forced fumble.
RB Leonard Fournette

The stat line might not jump out like it has in other games recently, but Fournette was solid again in the Bucs offense. He got the offense going on the first drive with a great 15-yard rush followed by scoring the Bucs’ first touchdown of the game on the next play. Once again he was consistent and reliable, rushing for an average of 6.3 yards per attempt. He also had a key reception late in the second half that went for a first down and set up Evans’ third score of the game. Fournette finished with 81 rushing yards and a touchdown along with nine receiving yards.
CBs Dee Delaney and Pierre Desir
The Bucs had to decide between starting Delaney or Desir at the outside corner position and Delaney made it pay off. He played with tight coverage all game and made an interception off of Fields in the first quarter that put the Bucs in great field position to help them go up 14-0. He finished the game with five tackles and an interception before exiting the game early with an ankle injury. When Delaney came out, Desir came in and recorded his first interception as a Buccaneer.
OLB Shaq Barrett
Barrett continues to be the best and most consistent pass rusher the Bucs have. He was responsible for the Tampa Bay’s second strip sack of the game and recovered a separate fumble on his own. The entire pass rush was great all afternoon and he was a big reason for it. He also made a key stop in the run game when the Bears were by the goal line, forcing them to settle for a field goal. Barrett recorded three tackles, a sack, and recovered a fumble.
OLB Jason Pierre-Paul
After struggling for a few games following his return from injury, it was a vintage JPP performance on Sunday. He notched two sacks in the game, including the third strip-sack by the Bucs defense. His second sack was just as exciting as it came on a fourth down play where Fields tried to escape the clutches of Pierre-Paul, but he was able to hold on and get the stop. If the Bucs can keep getting this type of JPP moving forward, the pass rush can go to another level. He made four tackles, two sacks and had a forced fumble.
WR Jaelon Darden

The Bucs put their faith in Darden after making him the primary returner with only one game of experience. He proved the Bucs right by taking his first punt return for 43 yards and getting the Bucs in scoring territory right away. That was the longest punt return of the whole entire season in the NFL. Not just the Bucs, the whole league. Darden later showed off his speed on offense getting an end-around rush and moving up the field for a first down.
S Jordan Whitehead
Adding to a dominant defensive performance by the Bucs defense was Whitehead, who crushed any hopes the Bears had of scoring a touchdown. Chicago put together a solid drive to move down the field, but on fourth down, Whitehead took advantage of a pass that went off the hands of the receiver, and he did the rest. Whitehead recorded two tackles with one tackle for a loss and an interception.
QB Tom Brady
It wasn’t Brady’s most efficient game of the season, completing just 55.5 percent of his passes. With that said, he reached another milestone on his storied career with 600 career touchdowns passes and threw for four TDs in the game. It’s almost automatic that Brady will throw for a minimum of four touchdowns when he’s at home. He finished the game completing 20-of-36 attempts for 211 yards and his four scores.
