The Bucs continue to be stellar at home, pulling away for a 30-10 victory over the New York Giants. Tampa is now 5-0 at home on the season. Tom Brady threw for over 300 yards and had a highlight reel 10-yard scramble. Points were left on the field, but a big win for the Bucs after two disappointing losses. The Bucs move to 7-3 on the season and firmly in the hunt for the top seed in the NFC.

Brady finished the game 30-46 with two touchdowns and a tipped interception. Rob Gronkowski’s welcome back saw him churn out six receptions for 71 yards. And Mike Evans was the leading receiver on the night, posting a 6-73-1 stat line. Evans touchdown broke the franchise record for most touchdowns (72) held by Bucs great Mike Alstott. While halftime saw another legend in John Lynch receive his Hall of Fame ring.

The Bucs had seven different players run the ball, led by a balanced rushing attack by Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones. Jones scored his second rushing touchdown of the season and moved into eighth all time in team history. While the defense came away with three turnovers and held the Giants to 215 total yards of offense.

Guard Ali Marpet suffered a strained oblique in the second quarter and was quickly ruled out for game.

Fast Start For Bucs Offense

The Bucs wasted little time on their opening possession. Driving 73 yards down the field, Brady found Chris Godwin for the quick score. Two defensive penalties helped the Giants into Bucs territory. But a false start, good pressure and coverage by the defense held them to just three points.

Tampa’s offense milked over seven minutes off the clock on the next possession. A first down run by Brady was the highlight off the drive. But the Giants held them to a field goal after an incomplete pass on third and goal. The Bucs defense would perform much better on the drive, forcing a quick three-and-out. A tipped pass interception by Brady gave New York the ball back at Tampa’s five yard line. Tackle Andrew Thomas scored two plays later on a catch from Daniel Jones to tie the game.

With a heavy dose of Rob Gronkowski and Ronald Jones, Tampa answered right back. The Bucs retook the lead on a six-yard scamper by Ronald Jones. A trade of punts and a wild catch and fumble by Darius Slayton ended the first half.

Bucs Pull Away In Second Half

Giants got the ball to start the half, but a missed fourth down conversion gave the Bucs the ball back at their own 25. Chunk plays to Evans, Gronkowski, Godwin and Breshad Perriman contributed to Tampa’s next scoring drive. On third-and-goal from the five, Brady went back to Evans for his 10th touchdown of the season and a 24-10 lead.

The Bucs were gifted great field position after a Steve McLendon interception off Jones. Starting at the Giants 37-yard line, the offense couldn’t get much going and had to settle for three. Penalties would hinder the Giants on their next drive and the Bucs were able to come up with big stops to force a punt. New York returned the favor, forcing a punt of their own after five plays.

Jones had a tipped pass interception of his own on their ensuing drive. Devin White got his hands on a pass intended for Slayton that landed in the hands of Mike Edwards. The Bucs would start with great field position again inside the Giants 40. The offense again sputtered and had to settle for another field goal and a 30-10 lead. Blaine Gabbert came in for Brady as the Bucs wrapped up another win at home.
