Since Tom Brady arrived in Tampa Bay, the Bucs have reached plenty of seldom-seen statistical milestones. But they hit a new mark in their Monday Night Football victory over the Giants in Week 11. According to Elias Sports Bureau, the Bucs became the third team in 35 years to have eight players carry the ball and 10 players catch it in a single game.

Over the last 35 years, only two other teams accomplished that: the Saints did it against the Panthers in 2013, as did the Seahawks against the 49ers in 2017. #NFL pic.twitter.com/KpaUYItmhF

The odds of the Bucs ever having eight different players rush the ball in a game had to be astronomically low. On the season, Leonard Fournette had dominated the workload on the ground, especially of late. Ronald Jones was coming off a one snap game, and Giovani Bernard had just seven carries all year. He didn’t get one on Monday either, but it didn’t end up mattering.
On the first drive of the game, Chris Godwin and Mike Evans both got handoffs. Godwin hit for seven, while Evans took his first career rushing attempt for 10 yards. Fournette, Jones and Tom Brady all had carries as expected, bringing the team’s total to five ball carriers for most of the game.

Then, late in the fourth quarter, Ke’Shawn Vaughn got three carries in garbage time. On an end around, Breshad Perriman was dropped for a loss of three yards. Then Blaine Gabbert closed things out with a couple kneel-downs, which count as rushing attempts.
On the receiving side, the ball sharing was much more predictable. Evans finished the game with 11 targets, six catches, 73 yards and a touchdown, leading the team in every category. Rob Gronkowski pulled up a close second with six grabs for 71 yards, and Chris Godwin added another six for 65 and a score. Fournette six receptions made him the fourth Buccaneer with six catches on Monday night.
Cam Brate and Breshad Perriman each added two catches, while O.J. Howard, Tyler Johnson, Giovani Bernard and Jaelon Darden all snagged a single catch. Johnson and Darden’s receptions came with the game in garbage time, hitting the statistical milestone just in time.
