It’s been about a month and a half since we’ve seen Bucs wide receiver Antonio Brown play in a game due to an ankle injury, and we might have to wait even longer before he returns. Adam Schefter of ESPN has reported that Brown is expected to miss at least the next two games.

Brown suffered an ankle during the Bucs’ Thursday night win over the Eagles in October. He finished the game, but hasn’t been able to play since. Bruce Arians, who already said he doubted Brown could play this week against the Falcons, stated that there was a setback in Brown’s recovery time because the injury spreaded to his heel as well.

“It was more a different injury than originally thought,” Arians said. “A sprain, but there’s some issues in the heel. That’s what he’s having problems with.”

When healthy, Brown has arguably been the most prolific receiver in the Bucs’ lineup on the season. He’s made 29 receptions for 418 yards and four touchdowns on the year.

The Bucs next two opponents are at the Falcons and home against the Bills, which would make the earliest timetable for his return to be a Sunday night home game against the Saints. Coincidentally enough, Brown made his Bucs debut at home in a Sunday night game against the same opponent.

If he’s not available for that, the Bucs close out the season at the Panthers, at the Jets and home against the Panthers again. Understandably, the Bucs don’t want to rush him back as the most important thing is to have the whole team healthy for the playoffs.
