On Monday, the Bucs announced they have re-signed long snapper Zach Triner. The special teams stalwart will stay in Tampa Bay for his fourth season with the team, all during Bruce Arians’ regime as head coach. Triner is signing a 2-year deal to remain a Buccaneer through the 2023 season.

Originally Triner came out of college in 2015 as an undrafted free agent. He bounced around on various practice squads and offseason rosters for the Jets and Packers, but did not make an official in-season roster until 2019 with the Bucs. Since then, Triner has entrenched himself as the team’s long snapper, playing in 41 games over the past three seasons.

Of course, Triner did miss eight games this past season due to a torn finger tendon suffered in Week 1 against the Cowboys. After the injury, he remained in the game and didn’t reveal the issue until the contest was over. Triner had a perfect snap for kicker Ryan Succop on the game-winning field goal to beat the Cowboys, 31-29. Afterward, head coach Bruce Arians praised his toughness.

“I was really proud of him,” Arians said. “I would’ve not been really happy to have somebody else snapping that ball to win the game. So he gutted it out. He’ll get it fixed up and he’ll be fine. Tough as nails.”

Triner has been pretty much flawless as a snapper over the past two seasons. He’ll re-join kicker Ryan Succop and punter Bradley Pinion for the battery’s third season in 2022.
