With a 28-yard catch in the third quarter of Sunday’s Week 12 game against the Browns, Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans made franchise and NFL history.

His first catch of the day put him over 10,000 yards for his career, making him the first player in Bucs history to reach that mark with the team. And at the same time, Evans also made NFL history by becoming just the sixth player to record 10,000 receiving yards and 75 receiving touchdowns in his first nine seasons.

With that, Evans joins Jerry Rice, Calvin Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Larry Fitzgerald and Randy Moss as the only players in that 10,000/75 through nine seasons club.

Evans already owns most of the franchise’s receiving records, plus he has an NFL-record streak of eight straight 1,000-yard seasons to start his career. He’s on pace to make that nine straight seasons this year, as he came into Sunday’s game against the Browns needing 329 more yards with seven games left to play.

There’s a constant dialogue about the 2014 first-round pick’s place among the league’s elite receivers, but the numbers don’t lie. He continues to produce year after year, and that has shaped into a legitimate Pro Football Hall of Fame case whenever he decides to call it quits.
