Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans came into Sunday’s Week 17 game against Carolina with 917 receiving yards, needing 83 yards to reach 1,000 yards this season. He accomplished that feat against the Panthers, topping 1,000 receiving yards for a ninth straight season on a 63-yard touchdown catch. That gave Evans 87 yards on four catches before halftime and extended his NFL record of which he is the sole owner of.

Evans is now in elite company with nine 1,000-yard seasons, joining the likes of Terrell Owens, Larry Fitzgerald, Jimmy Smith and Tim Brown. Only Randy Moss (10 1,000-yard seasons) and Jerry Rice (14 1,000-yard seasons) have more in NFL history.
Evans has had some close calls in extending his streak of 1,000-yard seasons since entering the league in 2014 as the Bucs’ first-round pick. The Texas A&M product had 1,051 yards during his rookie season, and then had 1,001 in 2017. Over the last two seasons, Evans reached 1,006 yards in 2020 and 1,035 yards last year.
Here is a look at Evans’ receiving yardage production year-by-year with the Bucs.
Bucs WR Mike Evans’ Year-By-Year Receiving Yards
2014: 1,051 yards
2015: 1,206 yards
2016: 1,321 yards
2017: 1,001 yards
2018: 1,524 yards
2019: 1,157 yards
2020: 1,006 yards
2021: 1,035 yards
2022: 1,004 yards and counting
While Evans’ receiving yardage production has remained constant this year, his touchdown production has fallen off dramatically. Evans broke his own record of single-season touchdown catches of 12 with 13 during the Bucs’ Super Bowl season in 2020. He then topped that in 2021 with a record-breaking 14 touchdowns, but this year, the veteran receiver has just four touchdowns. Evans dropped a potential touchdown against the Panthers back in Week 7 in a 21-3 loss at Carolina, but made up for it with his 63-yarder in Week 17.
