Latest Bucs Headlines

The Bucs announced on Tuesday that they have signed 12 players from their practice squad to futures contracts for the 2o23 season.

Tampa Bay’s effort to win the Super Bowl for the third time in team history and second in three seasons ended when they lost to the Cowboys 31-14 on Monday night. To start preparing for next season, the following players will be at training camp next summer barring any separate moves:

Bucs’ Offensive Players

Geiger and Wells each participated in three games this season for Tampa Bay. Hermanns got some snaps on special teams in two games while Skule had some playing time on offense in the regular season finale. Geiger also had a fun moment after practice one day showing off his acrobatic skills.

The biggest name out of the group probably has to be the rookie Turner, who came close to making the 53-man roster out of training camp. The former Clemson safety played in five games this season with a large of majority of it being on special teams. He made the most of the only defensive snap he played all season in a road loss to the 49ers, recording a solo tackle. Don Gardner got in a game as well.

Four Players From Bucs’ Practice Squad Still Un-Signed

Of the 16 players to finish the season on the Bucs’ practice squad, four players were not immediately re-signed. Some of them are quite familiar with quarterback Ryan Griffin along with wide receiver Tyler Johnson as well as outside linebacker Ifeadi Odenigbo and defensive lineman Willington Previlon.

Griffin is the longest tenured Buc in team history, having been withe organization in some capacity for the last eight seasons. Johnson was drafted by the Bucs in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, winning a Super Bowl in his rookie season with the franchise.

Johnson was waived by the Bucs late August but claimed by the Texans a day later. They relased him on Ocotber and he was back on the Bucs with a role on the practice squad a week later.
