While free agency is under two weeks away, the attention of the football world is currently on the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. While coaches and general managers spoke with the media earlier this week, prospects will be talking all week.

Sunday marked the fourth day of testing and drills inside Lucas Oil Stadium. It was the offensive linemen and running back who took center stage. Below are some of the standouts from Day 4 of the NFL Combine who may be potential Bucs targets.

NFL Combine Standouts Of Interest To The Bucs – OL, RBs

BYU OT Blake Freeland

Freeland was one of the top athletic testing offensive linemen in Indianapolis. The Cougars offensive tackle has the versatility to play left tackle and right tackle at the next level and is considered to be an athletic, finesse pass protector. Freeland ran a 4.99 in the 40-yard dash with a 1.74 10-yard split. He then posted a 37-inch vertical leap, which was the highest vertical ever for an offensive lineman at the Combine. Freeland followed that up by jumping 10 feet in the broad jump, which was the best amongst this group. Freeland had an informal meeting with the Bucs.

Georgia OT Broderick Jones

Jones looked like a two-time national champion on the field in Indianapolis during the position workouts. He is vying to be the first offensive tackle off the draft board in April and looked fluid in his movements and showed a nice, athletic, wide base during drills. Jones met formally with the Bucs in Indy.

Ohio State OT Paris Johnson Jr.

Johnson has outstanding size at 6-foot-6, 313 pounds and long arms (36 1/8″). He showed off his smooth athleticism in drills and solidified his status as a first-rounder. Johnson was one of four offensive tackles that the Bucs met with formally at the NFL Combine.

Oklahoma OT Anton Harrison

Harrison isn’t a top-end athlete like some of the other tackle prospects in Indy, but he did enough to justify his status as a Day 2 pick in Indianapolis. Harrison plays hard and has good, developmental upside.

Tennessee OT Darnell Wright

Wright excelled in big games against Alabama and Clemson this past year and is a prospect on the rise. Having played by left tackle and right tackle at Tennessee, Wright performed well in on-field drills after posting some great athletic numbers. Wright’s future appears to be at right tackle in the NFL, and he did meet formally with the Bucs.

USC G Andrew Vorhees

Vorhees is one of two guards who had a formal meeting with the Bucs – the other was Ohio State’s Joe Tippmann. Unfortunately, Vorhees suffered a knee/leg injury during the positional drills and had to be helped into the locker room by trainers. No official injury report was given.

The first-team All-American is considered to be a Day 2 selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Before getting injured, the 6-foot-6, 310-pound Vorhees checked in with 32 1/8″ arms and posted a vertical jump of 29 inches and an 8’9″ broad jump.

Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs

Gibbs has been compared to New Orleans’ Pro Bowler Alvin Kamara, and it’s easy to see why. He’s faster than Kamara, clocking a 4.36 in the 40-yard dash, and has tremendous agility and natural pass catching ability. Gibbs, who weighed in at 5-foot-9, 199 pounds, figures to be a Day 2 pick and met with the Bucs in a formal interview.

Tulane RB Tyjae Spears

Spears’ stock is on the rise after a 200-yard, four-touchdown day in a Cotton Bowl win over USC and a great showing at the Senior Bowl. The 5-foot-10, 201-pounds Spears didn’t run the 40-yard dash, but had a 39-inch vertical and jumped over 10 feet in the broad jump. He also showed outstanding agility and cutting ability in on-field drills. Spears, who has great hands out of the backfield, is likely a Day 3 pick and met with the Bucs informally.

East Carolina RB Keaton Mitchell

Mitchell posted the third-fastest 40-time in Indianapolis, running a 4.37. He’s undersized at 5-foot-8, 179 pounds, weighing in as one of the smaller backs at the Combine, but he has home-run ability and is strong enough to break some tackles. Mitchell, who is also an outstanding receiver, had an informal meeting with the Bucs (talking with running backs coach Skip Peete) and is likely a Day 3 pick.

Kansas State RB Deuce Vaughn

Speaking of undersized backs, the 5-foot-5, 179-pound Vaughn didn’t run the 40-yard dash, but he did post an impressive 35.5-inch vertical leap for a player of his stature. Vaughn excelled in pass catching drills and was sudden and explosive in his movements in on-field drills. A Day 3 pick or a potentially undrafted free agent, Vaughn met with Bucs running backs Skip Peete in Indianapolis.
