Latest Bucs Headlines

The Bucs have released a key piece of information related to their 2023 schedule. The team has announced their 2023 home game themes.

Following the pre-season themes of “Play Football” and “Play Football Jr. Cheer” the Bucs will open their regular season at home week two against the Bears with the theme “Welcome Back to Football.”

Bucs Celebrate Ronde Barber’s Hall of Fame Induction

Following the home opener, the team will honor Tampa Bay legend Ronde Barber with a Hall of Fame celebration week three against the Eagles on Monday Night Football. Barber spent 16 years with the Bucs from 1997 to 2012. He amassed 1,251 tackles, 47 interceptions, 15 forced fumbles, 12 fumble recoveries and 28 sacks while scoring eight touchdowns over 241 career games. Barber is one of the most prolific “splash play” players to ever play defense and revolutionized the slot corner position.

The Return of The Creamsicles

In Week 6 the Bucs will honor the franchises beginnings by re-donning their Creamsicle jerseys of old. The last time the team wore them was 2012 and only one member of the current roster, Lavonte David, has ever sported the iconic orange and white combos. David recently shared his thoughts on the slightly re-imagined version of the original uniforms the team will be breaking out this year, stating that he prefers this version to the one he wore in his rookie season.

Tampa Bay will also participate in league-wide themes that are returning in 2023 including “Crucial Catch,” “Salute to Service,” and “Football for All – My Cause, My Cleats” campaigns. The “Crucial Catch” theme has been around since 2009 raising money for cancer research and honoring cancer survivors as well as those currently battling the disease. Since its inception, the program has raised over $24 million for the American Cancer Society per NFL.com.

“Salute to Service” is technically a year-round commitment the league has to honoring, empowering and connecting with the nation’s service members, veterans and their families. But the league usually celebrates their “Salute to Service” theme on the game closest to Veteran’s Day, and that is no different this year as the Bucs and the rest of the NFL will celebrate Veteran’s Day weekend 2023. For the Bucs that is on November 12 when they host the Tennessee Titans.

The “My Cause – My Cleats” theme will take place week 13 on December 3, as Tampa Bay takes on its division rival Carolina Panthers. This theme allows players to break uniform code by wearing uniquely designed cleats aimed at bringing attention to causes that are important to them. The league amplifies these causes through personalized messages players record that are hosted on the league site as well as broadcasted during games. Current Bucs outside linebacker Shaq Barrett has worn cleats to highlight his Fifty50 Foundation, while Bucs cornerback Jamel Dean has used his kicks to promote mental health through the National Alliance on Mental Health.
