Latest Bucs Headlines

The Bucs were back outdoors for their Thursday practice, and there were some notable updates to the team’s injury report. Starting with the good news, quarterback Baker Mayfield (ankle) was again a full participant as he looks on track to play. Mayfield appeared to be fine stretching alongside his offensive line – including the ever-energetic Nick Leverett.

Also of note, cornerback Carlton Davis (ankle) was upgraded to being a full participant after being limited on Wednesday. But it was not all good news for the Bucs on the injury front.

Wide receiver Chris Godwin was the topic of discussion on Thursday’s Pewter Report Podcast, and he was limited after being added with a neck injury. His status will be something to monitor – as well be his ability to turn his play up a notch.

Inside linebacker continues to be an area where depth has quickly been put to the test on head coach Todd Bowles’ defense. Lavonte David (groin) and SirVocea Dennis (illness) remained out, as was Devin White (foot), who did not warm up but worked out on a separate field. With question marks surrounding each of Tampa Bay’s top three inside linebackers, they could be missing both starters come Sunday.

Remaining the same were the statuses of defensive lineman Mike Greene (calf), outside linebacker YaYa Diaby (ankle), and cornerback Jamel Dean (ankle/foot). Greene and Dean both were not seen on the field, while Diaby was limited but spotted sprinting during the team’s warm-up. Regardless of who suits up, the Bucs’ next game against the Panthers again looks like one where they will have to hope for different defensive players needing to step up in the stead of some key contributors.
