It is not the move many Bucs fans have been clamoring for, but the team did make a signing on Wednesday morning.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the team has added punter Jack Browning to the practice squad. Browning will presumably take Trenton Gill’s practice squad spot, as Gill is likely to be signed to the active roster following the release of Jake Camarda. With the 2022 fourth-rounder now out of the picture, it did not take long for the new guy to take his number.
#Bucs had a light walkthrough practice on Wednesday. There is a new No. 5 in town as the team signed P Jack Browning to the practice squad this morning. On the injury front, DB Tykee Smith was dressed but it’s unclear how much he practiced. pic.twitter.com/CcX91kRdic

Will Jack Browning Challenge Bucs P Trenton Gill?

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said following the team waiving Jake Camarda they would be working punters out and continue the competition despite Trenton Gill beating Camarda out.
“We had to make a decision, bringing [Trenton] Gill up,” Bowles said. “We’re going to go forward with him, but we’ll work some punters out, as well.”
The addition of Jack Browning adds some intrigue on this front.
Browning is an undrafted rookie out of San Diego State and served as the team’s kicker and punter. As a kicker, he went 35 of 47 (74.5%) for the Aztecs, including a 61-yarder last season.
More importantly, Browning averaged 45.8 yards per punt across his two seasons as a punter. That includes a 45.4 yards per punt average last season. Of his 54 punts, 22 of them he pinned inside the 20.
He has yet to latch onto an NFL team as an undrafted rookie. He had brief stints with the Bills and Ravens and now will look to stick around in Tampa Bay after signing with the Bucs.
