Latest Bucs Headlines

After losing two straight games at home, the 4-4 Bucs certainly don’t have it easy in Week 9 as they head into Arrowhead Stadium on Monday Night Football to face the 7-0 Chiefs.

The Bucs went through a midseason slide in 2023 and fell to 4-7 before turning it around late and extending their NFC South title and playoff appearance streak. As November 2024 begins, Tampa Bay is trying to avoid that same kind of midseason skid, and it may have a hard time doing so as it heads into one of the NFL’s toughest environments as losers of two straight and trying to hand the back-to-back Super Bowl champion Chiefs their first loss of the year.

If they can’t pull off the upset, the Bucs will suffer their third straight loss, hit 4-5 and find themselves staring 4-6 right in the face with the 49ers – Todd Bowles’ kryptonite – looming next week. So, there’s plenty on the line in primetime.

As usual, there are other storylines to follow in this Week 9 rematch of Super Bowl LV, and that’s the reason we’re here right now. As we do every week here on PewterReport.com, it’s now time to take a look at what else is on the line during this week’s game. Of course, we’re talking about some of the records and milestones that some Bucs are moving toward.

Last week, Baker Mayfield passed Craig Erickson for the ninth-most passing yards in franchise history, Cade Otton passed O.J. Howard for the eighth-most receptions by a tight end in team history and Chase McLaughlin tied Martin Gramatica and Connor Barth for the most field goals from 50+ yards in Buccaneer history.

Here’s where everything stands heading into Week 9:

With 300+ passing yards and 100+ rushing yards in Monday night’s game, the Bucs would become the first team since the 2013 Broncos to hit those marks in four straight games.

With 400 total yards in Monday’s game, the Bucs would match the longest streak of 400+ yard games in franchise history (four, most recently done in 2021 and done four times ever).

If the Bucs put up 25 points, they’ll match the 2012 and 2020 Bucs for the longest streak of 25+ point games in franchise history (6).

Baker Mayfield

Mayfield is 13 passing touchdowns away from passing Steve DeBerg (61) for 8th-most in team history.

Two more passing touchdowns would make Mayfield the first Bucs quarterback since Tom Brady (2021) to throw multiple passing touchdowns in six straight games.

With three more passing touchdowns, Mayfield will become the eighth quarterback in NFL history with 3+ in five straight games. He’d join Tom Brady, Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning (twice), Dan Marino, Aaron Rodgers (twice), Russell Wilson and Steve Young. Luck did it most recently (2018).

With three passing touchdowns against the Chiefs, Mayfield will set the Bucs record for longest streak of 3+ passing touchdown games (5).

A game with 300+ passing yards and 3+ passing touchdowns would make Mayfield the sixth quarterback in NFL history to reach those marks in four straight games. He’d join Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Steve Young.

Mayfield would need a massive six-touchdown night to tie Tom Brady (27 in 2021) for the most passing touchdowns through nine games in franchise history.

Rachaad White

White needs one more receiving touchdown to tie Warrick Dunn and James Wilder (9) for the 2nd-most by a running back in Bucs history.

With 17 more receiving yards, White will pass Doug Martin (1,091) for 7th-most by a Buccaneer running back in history.

Cade Otton

Otton needs five more receptions to pass Alex Smith (129) for 7th-most by a tight end in team history.

With eight receptions against the Chiefs, Otton would join Brock Bowers (2024) and Travis Kelce (2023) as the only tight ends in the league since 2022 (the year Otton entered the NFL) to record 8+ receptions in three straight games.

One more receiving touchdown will tie Otton with Ron Hall (10) for 9th-most by a tight end in Buccaneer history.

With two receiving touchdowns in Monday’s game, Otton would join Rob Gronkowski (2021) as the only tight ends in Bucs history to have multiple receiving touchdowns in back-to-back games.

Will Gholston

Monday night will be Gholston’s 178th with the Bucs, leaving him six away from passing Paul Griber (183) for 4th-most in franchise history.

Lavonte David

David is set to play his 190th game as a Buc, tying Dave Moore for the 3rd-most in team history.

David needs three sacks to pass David Logan (39.0) for 6th-most in franchise history.

With six more passes defensed, David will pass Carlton Davis III (73) for 4th-most in Tampa Bay history.

Antoine Winfield Jr.

Winfield is one sack away from tying Keith Bostic (17.0) for 14th-most by a defensive back since sacks became an official stat in 1982. Two more sacks would tie him with Adam Archuleta, Bill Bates and Roman Harper (18.0) for 11th-most by a defensive back and three more would tie him with Charles Woodson (20.0) for 10th-most.

With three more forced fumbles, Winfield will pass Hardy Nickerson (13) for 7th-most in Buccaneer history.

Winfield needs one more fumble recovery to tie Lee Roy Selmon (10) for 4th-most by a Bucs defender.

Chase McLaughlin

McLaughlin needs one more field goal from 50+ yards to set a new franchise record (16).
