Latest Bucs Headlines

The inactive lists for the Bucs and 49ers came out Sunday morning, with interesting developments brewing in Tampa Bay.

Defensively, the team suffered a big blow as rookie nickelback Tykee Smith suffered a knee injury during Friday’s practice. Coming into the game as questionable, he is the most notable new inactive to report. Facing a San Francisco offense with plenty of weapons, this is a big blow for Todd Bowles’ unit. Smith has been having an impressive rookie season which recently got him featured on Pewter Report’s midseason awards.

While one third-round pick is out, one will be in. Wide receiver Jalen McMillan is active after missing Monday night’s game against the Chiefs. McMillan is looking to turn his own season around and will have an opportunity to do so against a secondary missing its biggest piece (more on that below).

Wide receiver Mike Evans is the other big name on the list, although this could be the last time his name is featured. Evans is expected back after the bye week and to be ready for Week 12 against the Giants.

Which Big Player Are The 49ers Missing Against The Bucs?

On the 49ers’ side of things, their biggest inactive is top cornerback Charvarius Ward. Ward, a 2023 Pro Bowler, is dealing with a difficult family matter with his one-year-old daughter passing away and is away from the team.

He is the only starter for San Francisco who will not be playing today, which means that wide receiver Deebo Samuel and rookie safety Malik Mustapha are good to go. Samuel and Mustapha were both questionable, but instead, they will be on the field and pose matchup problems on each side of the football.
