It was almost one year ago to the date when Bucs general manager Jason Licht took to the artist formerly known as Twitter to remind Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan that he was flat out wrong about what he said about the Bucs and their supposed decline. At the time, Jordan said that the Bucs “would go back to being the Bucs” without Tom Brady in the 2023 offseason having just signed Baker Mayfield to replace him at quarterback.

The Bucs won the NFC South division with Mayfield under center last year, making it three NFC South championships in a row. Tampa Bay and New Orleans both finished 9-8 last year, but the Bucs won the division due to a tiebreaker. This allowed Licht to get the last laugh by quote tweeting Jordan’s interview and saying, “Yep, went back to being the Bucs! Champs again.”

It was a great moment.

Jason Licht Deserves To Take Another Victory Lap

Fast forward a year and Jason Licht isn’t done running up the score on Cam Jordan. Throughout the Bucs-Saints rivalry Jordan has taken many shots at the Bucs in interviews and on social media, so it’s fair game for Licht to keep going at Jordan and take another victory lap.

This one was even sweeter as the Bucs defeated Jordan and the Saints, 27-19, at Raymond James Stadium to clinch their fourth consecutive division title. And Baker Mayfield, who was the reason for Jordan’s comments that day in the first place, played a huge role in the win, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for a very important 68 yards in the game on multiple scrambles.

With the social media platform going from Twitter to X, Licht reposted his previous comments and added even more comments to it.

“Happy we are still doing Tampa things! Have a great night!” Licht said.

It’s the gift that keeps on giving for Bucs fans.

Jason Licht Celebrates With Bucs Over Big Accomplishment 

It was a busy day on social media for Bucs general manager Jason Licht in several ways. Before the game the talk of the town was the return of the infamous duck whose presence on the scoreboard in last week’s 48-14 win over Carolina led to a blocked punt and touchdown. Several people, including former Bucs Super Bowl winning center Ryan Jensen, held the duck, and even former Tampa Bay Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady, who was a broadcaster for FOX on Sunday, even petted the duck.

Following the win, Licht posted his photo with the Duck commenting “Duck Yeah!”

Aside from the NFC South title-clinching win, the biggest storyline was Mike Evans reaching 1,000 receiving yards for the 11th straight season, putting himself in category with Jerry Rice as the only players to do this in NFL history.

There was tons of drama behind it as the Bucs got the necessary stop on defense to give the ball back to the offense with 36 seconds to go and the win already in hand. Needing just five yards, Baker Mayfield found Evans for a 9-yard completion and Evans made history.

It was a great moment as the crowd at Raymond James Stadium erupted. Evans emphatically celebrated and the whole Bucs team ran out to join him. It must have been special as well for Licht, whose first-ever draft pick as a general manager was Evans in the first round 11 years ago.

Tampa Bay’s social media team did a great job capturing it all and giving everyone an inside look at how the team celebrated in the locker room. Head coach Todd Bowles gave the game ball to Evans, who made a quick speech as everyone went wild. In on the group was Licht, who could be seen clapping with a huge smile when Evans was handed the football.

There’s no question that this was a historic day in the Bucs franchise for several reasons. It appears that Jason Licht enjoyed every single moment with a team that he’s responsible for constructing, and offered a parting shot at a division rival, too.
