Exciting news came about for the Bucs as star running back Bucky Irving was named to the Pro Football Writers Of America’s All-Rookie Team. Bucky Irving was a shoe-in to win it as his position given the season he just had. It didn’t take long for Bucs fans to fall in love what Bucky Irving can do, and now they can celebrate this accolade.
Irving and Giants running back Tyrone Tracy were the running backs named. Bucs’ center Graham Barton did not make the list as he was beaten out by Steelers center Zach Frazier.
Congrats to @BuckyIrving on earning @PFWAwriters honors 👏

Bucky Irving Had A Sensational Rookie Year
It was truly a special year for Irving, who looks like a steal as a fourth round pick out of Oregon. He led all rookies with 1,122 rushing yards and in rushing touchdowns with eight, while averaging 5.4 yards per attempt.

In week 13 he was named NFC Offensive Player Of The Week for his performance in 26-23 overtime win for the Bucs over the Panthers. During that game Irving rushed for 152 yards on 25 attempts and a score. Adding in three catches for 33 yards and he wound up with 182 yards from scrimmage in the game.
When Bucky Irving reached over 1,000 yards rushing, he became the first Bucs player to do so since Doug Martin in 2015. Irving did that with another big game against the Panthers, this time in Week 17 where he ran 20 times for 113 yards in a win for Tampa Bay.
His 5.4 yards per carry was the third-highest mark in NFL history among rookies with at least 200 rushing attempts in a season, trailing only Adrian Peterson (5.6 in 2007) and Clinton Portis (5.5 in 2002). His season rushing average also established a new Buccaneers single-season record (min. 100 rushes) and ranked fourth in the NFL among running backs, trailing only Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley and Jahmyr Gibbs.

Another trademark of Irving’s running style was his ability to make players miss and continuously move forward even after contact. Per NFL Next Gen Stats, Irving forced the highest missed tackle rate among ball carriers with at least 150 touches (35.8%). Additionally, his 91 missed tackles forced were the fourth-most in the NFL this season.
Soon enough it appears that Bucky Irving can become a top five running back in this league. Given how this offense goes from the offensive line to the wide receivers, and quarterback Baker Mayfield, the sky is the limit for Bucky Irving and what he can accomplish.
