The Bucs have re-signed defensive tackle Eric Banks as reported by Greg Auman of Fox Sports. The deal is for one year and worth $1.03 million.

While Banks was on the Bucs last season he was not seen much due to injury. Banks had a season ending triceps injury in training camp costing him the whole year. Before going to the Bucs he began his career with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He spent a year there, some time with the Chargers and Lions in 2021 and two seasons with the Cardinals in 2022 and 2023.

Banks has played in 17 career games making 11 tackles. After missing all of the 2024 season with the Bucs, he’ll look to bounce back in 2025 with Tampa Bay.

The re-signing of Banks is the third time that Tampa Bay has brought back a defensive tackle along with Greg Gaines and C.J. Brewer earlier in free agency. The lone remaining defensive tackle not to be re-signed yet is the long tenured Will Gholston.

It appears that the team is comfortable with their defensive line group going into the season led by Vita Vea and Calijah Kancey along with Logan Hall. It’s a big season for Hall particularly, who is going into a contract year. Defensive tackle is one of the few positions that has not been talked about much as far as Tampa Bay addressing it in the draft.

Because there are several players on one-year contracts, it can’t be ruled out that Tampa Bay would add one to get some long term stability on the line after Vea and Kancey. Given the other issues on defense, though, the Bucs might just stay with this current group and potentially add another one-year signing for depth reasons.
