The Bucs will continue their practice of holding joint practices with other NFL teams in 2025.

In an exclusive interview with Pewter Report’s Scott Reynolds and Bailey Adams on Monday’s Pewter Report Podcast, Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles revealed that the team will be facing both the Titans and Steelers in joint practices this August during training camp.

Tampa Bay opens the 2025 preseason hosting the Tennessee Titans on Saturday, August 9 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Then, the team travels to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers on Saturday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. ET

Squaring off against other NFL teams in a joint practice setting is nothing new. Under Bowles, Tampa Bay has held joint practices with the Titans in Tennessee in 2022, with the Jets in New York in 2023 and last year with the Jaguars in Jacksonville.

The Bucs have also hosted some teams for joint practices in the past, including the Titans and the Dolphins during Bruce Arians’ coaching days in Tampa Bay. Under former head coach Greg Schiano, the Buccaneers also welcomed the New England Patriots to One Buccaneer Place for joint practices in 2013.

Former Tampa Bay head coach Tony Dungy also had joint practices during the offseason with the likes of Jacksonville and Miami – both away and at home when the Buccaneers used to hold training camp at the University of Tampa soccer fields in the mid- to late 1990s.

Bucs To Face Titans And Steelers In Training Camp Joint Practices

For the first time in Todd Bowles’ tenure as head coach in Tampa Bay, the Bucs will be having joint practices against two teams they’ll battle against in the preseason. Bowles broke the news on his guest appearance on Monday’s Pewter Report Podcast.

“We’re working on having joint practices with two of them – the Titans and the Steelers,” Bowles told Pewter Report.

Bowles and the Buccaneers defense could be facing opposite ends of the quarterback spectrum in August with Tennessee slated to start rookie Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, while the Steelers are in discussion with possibly signing 20-year veteran Aaron Rodgers. The Titans are coached by second-year head coach Brian Callahan, while the Steelers are coached by Mike Tomlin, who is entering his 19th season leading Pittsburgh.

After the Buccaneers host the Titans in the first preseason game and travel to Pittsburgh to play the second preseason game, Tampa Bay hosts the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET in the preseason finale. The Bucs previously played the Titans in the 2022 preseason and the Steelers in the 2023 preseason.

The Buccaneers don’t play the Titans or the Steelers this year in the regular season, but do play the Bills at Buffalo in Week 11 on November 16 at 1:00 p.m, ET.
