The Bucs understand that they are going into the 2025 season without All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs for the first couple of games. They also know that backup Charlie Heck will play there in Wirfs’ absence and will have a month and a half to prepare him.
What is raises questions about next is who becomes the next offensive tackle they turn to on the depth chart? If something were to happen to Heck or right tackle Luke Goedeke, the Bucs are in a very thin spot.
During the Pewter Report Podcast, Matt Matera gives some ideas about two offensive tackles that are currently free agents who the Bucs might want to consider bringing on the team to cover themselves. Tampa Bay has an up and comer with Ben Chukwuma, but he’s not NFL ready yet. These veteran players have experience and can help fill in if it’s only for a handful of games.
