The Bucs made some roster moves coming out of the bye as they signed offensive lineman Karsen Barnhart to the practice squad. In a corresponding move, they placed offensive lineman Tyler McLellan on the practice squad/injured reserve list.

Barnhart signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL draft. He spent all of the season on the practice squad and then was waived during their 2025 training camp in August. He then spent time this season with Broncos on their practice squad until about two weeks ago.

There is a connection between Barnhart and a starter on the Bucs’ offensive line as Barnhart was a teammate of Ben Bredeson when they were at Michigan in 2019. Barnhart went on to be a two time All-Big 10 selection and won a National Championship with Michigan after the 2023 season.

Coming to Tampa Bay at this point of the season, Barnhart joins Lorenz Metz and Ben Scott as offensive linemen on the practice squad. The Bucs reported that he will wear number 61 on the roster.

Bucs Offensive Line Outlook

The newest signing doesn’t have much of an impact on the starting offensive line. The biggest story for the group is when starting right tackle Luke Goedeke will be returning as Tampa Bay just opened up the 21-day practice window for him to come off of injured reserve. Charlie Heck had been starting there, but getting Goedeke back is a big upgrade for the unit.

Another storyline to pay attention to is what the team decides to do at starting right guard. It has been a revolving door since Cody Mauch was deemed out for the whole season. They have had Elijah Klein, Michael Jordan, Luke Haggard and Dan Feeney start at the position.

Klein only started there in Week 3 when Haggard started at left guard. Haggard then moved to right guard until he injured his shoulder.  Michael Jordan began the season at left guard but then injured his knee. He came back for the Monday night game against the Lions, but then Tampa Bay went with the healthier Feeney for their game against the Saints, Tampa Bay’s last game before the bye week.

The Bucs have had a whole week to decide on who is going to start at right guard this week when they have a home game. It is a crucial decision that can determine the productivity of their run blocking and pass protection for the second half of the season.
