The Bucs have one more game in the regular season and will be missing some important pieces to their defense. Starting cornerback Jamel Dean has been ruled out for the Bucs’ game on Saturday against the Panthers. Backup outside linebacker Anthony Nelson is also out.

Dean has been Tampa Bay’s best corner this season, but a nagging shoulder injury will keep him unavailable. That means its Benjamin Morrison on one side and then Tampa Bay will have an option of Jacob Parrish or Kindle Vildor on the other. Nelson’s knee injury is still an issue. Its the second game in a row that he’s missing. He’s usually the first backup at edge rusher, but that means more snaps for Jason Pierre-Paul and Chris Braswell when they give the starters a break.

A big question going into Saturday is if we’ll see the return of defensive tackle Calijah Kancey. He hasn’t played since Week 2, but he’s listed as questionable for this matchup. It could be the last game of the season for the Bucs, so its now or never. Todd Bowles indicated he’s capable of playing, it just depends how much.

“He can play — he’s definitely in play ,” Bowles said of Kancey. “Obviously, [we] would have to make some moves to make that happen, so we’ll have our work cut out for us, but he had a good week. He had a very good two weeks. If he plays, he’ll definitely be on a snap count.”

The other good news is that left tackle Tristan Wirfs didn’t have any injury status on Thursday, so he’s good to go. Wirfs missed last week’s game but is returning for the season finale.

Here is the full injury report with status designation for the Bucs and Panthers before their important game.
