The Bucs’ 2026 free agent class arrived in Tampa before the team’s 2026 draft class did, but it was the members of the draft class who had their jersey numbers finalized first ahead of rookie mini-camp.

But now, after the rookies had their first NFL jersey numbers announced by the team, jersey numbers for those free agent newcomers have also begun to see the light of day.

We started to see these numbers trickle out throughout early May, first with veteran inside linebacker Alex Anzalone. He posted an edit of himself in a Bucs uniform on his Instagram story back on May 1 and in it, he was wearing the same No. 34 that he wore with the Lions and in college with the Florida Gators before that.

Cedric Brown was the first notable No. 34 in Buccaneer history, then came Super Bowl XXXVII MVP Dexter Jackson, who wore the number from 1999-2005. Earnest Graham, another former Florida Gator, then wore it from 2006-2011. It was most recently worn by cornerback Bryce Hall.

Not long after Anzalone posted that edit, we got an actual look at the new Bucs linebacker wearing the No. 34 in a photo he posted from the AdventHealth Training Center, where he was joined by third-year safety Tykee Smith and fifth-year cornerback Zyon McCollum during Tampa Bay’s offseason program.

Thanks to NFL Jersey Numbers on social media, we then got some more Bucs jersey numbers on May 5 and May 7, respectively. First, it was Kenny Gainwell’s. The veteran running back will wear No. 1 in Tampa Bay following the departure of fellow running back and the team’s most recent No. 1, Rachaad White.

Gainwell wore No. 14 in both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but now he gets a chance to don No. 1. White only had a four-year career with the Bucs and was the No. 2 running back for about half of his tenure, but he arguably cemented himself as the most notable No. 1 in franchise history anyway.

NFL Jersey Numbers also reported the number of quarterback Jake Browning, who signed with the Bucs this March after serving as Joe Burrow’s backup with the Bengals over the last few years. He wore No. 6 in Cincinnati, but with that number obviously occupied by starting quarterback Baker Mayfield, Browning had to pivot to a new number, going down to No. 5.

Haason Reddick last wore No. 5 in Tampa Bay, doing so just last year. It was worn by punter Jack Browning (surprisingly no relation) the year before that and another punter in Jake Camarda in 2022 and 2023. The most notable No. 5 in team history was another quarterback, as Josh Freeman wore it from 2009-2013.

A Flurry Of Other Bucs Free Agent Numbers Revealed Friday

Just after the Bucs wrapped up Day 1 of their rookie mini-camp Friday, NFL Jersey Numbers dropped the numbers for four more Bucs free agents.

The first to come out on Friday was Christian Rozeboom’s No. 52. Scot Brantley wore it well from 1980-1987, but it’s a number that otherwise hasn’t had much success throughout Tampa Bay’s history. It most recently belonged to defensive tackle C.J. Brewer, and K.J. Britt had it before him, wearing it from 2021-2024.

The next number to drop was a familiar one, as Super Bowl LV champion Rakeem Nunez-Roches, who is returning to the Bucs after three years away, will once again wear his No. 56.

Fellow defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson will assume No. 91, which has belonged to the likes of Regan Upshaw, Chartric Darby, Stylez G. White, Beau Allen over the years. It was most recently worn by Jason Pierre-Paul in 2025 when he briefly returned to Tampa Bay but wasn’t able to wear his No. 90.

Al-Quadin Muhammad will wear No. 97, which is one up from what he wore in Detroit. The most notable No. 97 in franchise history was “The Sackmasta,” Simeon Rice, who was just inducted into the Bucs Ring of Honor last November. Muhammad will certainly be looking to replicate some of the special seasons Rice had during his time in red, white and pewter.

As of this writing, only wide receiver David Sills V, cornerbacks Kemon Hall and Chase Lucas and safety/special teams ace Miles Killebrew have yet to see their numbers finalized/officially announced.
