The Bucs had some pretty significant names that didn’t practice on the first injury report of Week 3. Most noticeably, rookie first round pick Rueben Bain Jr. and rookie second round pick Josiah Trotter.
Bain has been dealing with AC joint sprain in his shoulder ever since Tampa bay’s joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars in August. But that’s not what kept him out of practice on Wednesday. As it turns out, Bain sustained a groin injury in the Bucs’ loss to the Browns last week. He played through the game, but was held out today.

Trotter’s story is a little different. He did miss a couple of snaps against Cleveland but did return and finish the game. He was ruled out as a did not participate, but did warmup with the team before running on a different field separately. Trotter could be seen with a harness over his left shoulder as he worked out.
Definitely something to monitor with Josiah Trotter in this contraption. We’re calling it harness. #Bucs pic.twitter.com/td2WMAV7xj

There was another player that didn’t practice on Wednesday, and that was outside linebacker Anthony Nelson with a shin injury. With Bain already out, that could put more of a reliance on backups Al-Quadin Muhammad and David Walker to join with starter Yaya Diaby.
While those were the only players that did not participate, the Bucs did have three other players on the list that were put as full participants. Those were wide receiver Jalen McMillan (knee), quarterback Baker Mayfield (illness) and cornerback Jacob Parrish (back).
All three are very significant for various reasons. McMillan just returned last week but played seldom and wants to be ramped up more. Mayfield obviously is the team’s most important player, and his weekly press conference had to be canceled and moved to Thursday. And Parrish, who missed last week, is a starter that Tampa Bay would like to have return.

The Bucs were lucky to avoid serious injuries in the first two weeks, hopefully they can maintain that going into their next home game against the Vikings in Week 3. Here is the full injury report on Wednesday for each team.
