The 0-3 Bucs and 1-2 Packers both come into Sunday afternoon’s game at Raymond James Stadium in dire need of a get-right game. The only problem, of course, is that only one side can emerge with a freefall-stopping victory.
If that team is going to be Tampa Bay, it would have to come without starting quarterback Baker Mayfield, who dislocated his thumb in the waning moments of the team’s Week 3 loss to Minnesota. Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels will start in his place against Green Bay, becoming the first undrafted rookie quarterback to start a game in franchise history. Not only that, but this becomes the first time that the Bucs will start a backup quarterback since 2018. There was an unprecedented run of starting quarterbacks staying healthy in Tampa Bay from 2019-2026, but that has now come to an end.

Mayfield isn’t the only key Buc who is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Packers. Tampa Bay’s defense will once again be without rookie outside linebacker Rueben Bain Jr., who missed last week’s loss against the Vikings. Not only that, but second-year cornerback Benjamin Morrison, the Bucs’ No. 3 corner, is also inactive. So, behind starters Zyon McCollum and Jacob Parrish, the Buccaneer defense has undrafted rookie Ayden Garnes – a training camp and preseason star – waiting in the wings as depth.
In the special teams department, Ko Kieft is inactive, leaving Tampa Bay without one of its core teams players.

Packers In Dire Straits With Their O-Line For Week 4 vs. Bucs
Despite the fact that they do have a win on the year, vibes for the Packers are low enough to nearly rival that of the Bucs right now. A big reason for that has been the play of Green Bay’s offensive line, which has struggled to protect quarterback Jordan Love and struggled even more to open up running lanes for the backfield.
In an effort to shore up those issues along the offensive line, Green Bay signed three veteran guards this week. Kevin Zeitler, Laken Tomlinson and Mekhi Becton are all new additions for the Packers, adding some intrigue to how things would look for their O-line in Tampa on Sunday afternoon.

As it turns out, Green Bay didn’t elevate Becton from the practice squad. Not only that, but Zeitler is inactive. Left guard Aaron Banks is out for Sunday’s game, too, as is fellow guard Jacob Monk. So, this is an already-struggling offensive line that is down two interior linemen and decided not to bring two of its new additions into the fold only days after signing. Tomlinson is the only one of the newcomers who will suit up for this game.
To make matters worse for Green Bay, the team also placed wide receiver Jayden Reed and defensive tackle Warren Brinson on injured reserve this week.
