Adam Slivon has his Top 10 Takeaways video series on Pewter Report’s YouTube channel, PewterReportTV. These short videos on the Bucs – typically six to nine minutes in length – offer up Slivon’s unique takes on the most recent Tampa Bay game or current events in the Bucs’ offseason with his expert insight and opinions.

Adam Slivon offers his Top 10 Takeaways after the Bucs lost to the Packers 17-14 in Week 4. Sunday was the latest time Tampa Bay lost a one-score game, falling to 0-4 in a game where they lacked the energy and urgency to pull it off. At this point, much of the issue, offensively and defensively, is poor coaching. Zac Robinson failed to put together a proper game plan and utilize Tampa Bay’s playmakers properly. They don’t lack talent, but Robinson is failing to scheme anyone up for success.

That also rang true on defense.

While Todd Bowles’ unit only allowed 17 points, the same issues continue to plague that side of the ball. The pass rush did not get a single sack on quarterback Jordan Love, even with a makeshift Green Bay offensive line protecting him. Bowles pointed to Love getting the ball out in less than 2.4 seconds, but it’s easy to do so when the cornerbacks are playing 10 yards off Christian Watson and Matthew Golden. Also, his defense can’t cover the tight end position.

Jalon Daniels did not look overwhelmed in his first NFL start, but he threw a couple of passes he wishes he could have back. Daniels’ two interceptions were negative moments, but he did elude sacks by scrambling and made a few clean throws. Robinson’s personnel usage remains quite questionable.

Bucs Rb Sean Tucker

Sean Tucker rumbled forward to convert a fourth-and-1 and scored a touchdown, then was not used for the rest of the game. Kenny Gainwell gets five touches a game, even though he scored a touchdown, too. Chris Godwin Jr. looks impressive; too bad he is only targeted near the line of scrimmage. Emeka Egbuka is an afterthought, and Ted Hurst III only gets one explosive play a game and then doesn’t get targeted. Ugh…

Based on what has transpired through four games, the writing is on the wall for the coaching staff being overhauled. It won’t likely happen until the end of the season, but getting blown out against the Cowboys on Thursday night in primetime could expedite that process.
