The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released their first official depth chart and there are a few mild surprises.

On offense, the Bucs’ depth chart features both Rob Gronkowski and O.J. Howard as starters, as the team has listed 12 Personnel (two tight ends, two receivers, one running back) as its base offense. Tampa Bay ran mostly three-receiver sets in 2019 – 64 percent of the time – as opposed to two tight end sets at just 23 percent.

On defense, Tampa Bay’s depth chart has Antoine Winfield, Jr. listed as a starting safety alongside Jordan Whitehead and ahead of Mike Edwards. Winfield, the Bucs’ second-round pick this season, had a really good training camp, but so did Edwards.

Winfield is also listed as the backup on kick returns behind Jaydon Mickens, who will also handle punt return duties. Head coach Bruce Arians said that Winfield would be in the mix for punt return duties, but it’s a bit of a surprise to see Winfield on kick returns instead.
