Not only did the Eagles lose their Week 18 game at New York to the Giants, 28-14, in dramatic fashion, but Philadelphia also lost star wide receiver AJ Brown to a knee injury. The Eagles had a chance to win the NFC East division with a win against the Giants combined with a loss by the Dallas Cowboys to the Washington Commanders last Sunday.

Instead, Philly lost and Dallas won. So the Eagles will be traveling to Tampa Bay to face the 9-8 Bucs, the three-time NFC South division champions, as a result. And the Eagles will be doing so without Brown, who has officially been ruled out for the Wild Card game, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

AJ Brown Is Not The Only Injured Eagles Star

Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown is not the only injured Philadelphia star player. Quarterback Jalen Hurts dislocated his middle finger on his throwing hand against the New York Giants last Sunday. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith missed last week’s game due to an ankle injury, and running back D’Andre Swift was out against the Giants due to an illness.

Starting guard Cam Jurgens also suffered an eye injury against the Giants, while safety Reed Blankenship suffered a groin injury. Even worse, starting rookie safety Sydney Brown tore his ACL and is out for the Bucs game, too.

Brown is apparently taking his injury situation pretty hard. On Friday he deleted all mentions or references of the Eagles on his Instagram account and deleted his X (formerly known as Twitter) account.

Given the fact that he’s out for the Wild Card game, it doesn’t serve as much of a distraction, but what does it say about Brown’s long-term prospects with the Eagles? Is he upset that he had to play in Week 18 – or just the fact that he got hurt against the Giants?
