After a promising start to his Bucs’ career, a myriad of lower leg and foot injuries are threatening to end Justin Evans’ NFL dreams before they could really take off. After missing the past season-and-half with foot and Achilles injuries, Evans remains on the Bucs’ P.U.P. (Physically Unable to Perform) list as training camp heads into padded practices.
“You’d have to talk to Jesus,” Arians said, when asked about Evans’ health and potential availability in the coming weeks. “I have no clue.”
Not an encouraging sign for Evans, who faces an uphill battle to earn a spot on the Bucs’ final roster. Safeties Antoine Winfield, Jordan Whitehead and Mike Edwards are locks for the final roster, and Andrew Adams likely is too unless Evans is able to return. With the way D’Cota Dixon has impressed coaches as well, the end of Evans’ time in Tampa Bay might be coming if he can’t get on the field.
