The Bucs have a very important game as a team against the Panthers coming up on Saturday. Win and they have a chance to get it the postseason depending on the result of the Falcons-Saints game, lose and they go home. But quarterback Baker Mayfield also has something else to play for in the season finale.
Since its the last game of the regular season, its also that time where incentives and bonuses can be reached for players. According to Marc Raimondi of ESPN, there are several statistical incentives that Mayfield has on his contract, but only two can realistically be attained with one game to go. Here’s the information he had about it Tampa Bay’s quarterback.

“The resurgent quarterback still has a shot at incentives late in the season. Mayfield can earn a $500,000 bonus for finishing in the top 10 of the NFL or top five in the NFC in each of the following: passer rating, touchdown passes, total passing yards, completion percentage and yards per pass.
“The maximum Mayfield could make is $2.5 million, though he is unlikely to hit the mark in all of those categories.”

There’s $1 Million On The Line For Baker Mayfield
Looking at the incentives that Baker Mayfield can and can’t hit. He’s in the 20s in passer rating, completion percentage and yards per pass, so he has no chance of reaching either top 10 in the NFL or top five in the NFC, so we don’t have to put any attention to this.

Where Baker Mayfield can make $1 million with $500,000 for each incentives is the touchdown passes and the passing yards going into this last game.
Currently at 25 touchdowns, Baker Mayfield is tied for seventh with Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Bo Nix, and Caleb Williams. Because Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff, and Dak Prescott are in the top 3 in the league, with Prescott third at 30, Mayfield is essentially battling with Darnold and Williams for who can get into the top five in the NFC.
Since Baker Mayfield is tied with five other quarterbacks, with five spots remaining in the top five, Mayfield can also reach this incentive by throwing more touchdowns than at least one of these quarterbacks on the list as long as Aaron Rodgers, who’s at 23 touchdown passes, doesn’t surpass him either.
Baker Mayfield’s Passing Yards Situation
The passing yards that Baker Mayfield has in front of him is a bit of a different scenario. At 3,490 yards, there is no way that Mayfield will be in the top five in passing yards in the NFC with Stafford, Goff, Prescott, Darnold and Williams too far ahead.

But, there is a window where Mayfield can sneak into the top 10 of the NFL in passing yards with a big performance. Mayfield is 12th in the league in passing yards at the moment. In front of him is Patrick Mahomes at 11 with 3,587, then Josh Allen at 10 and 3,668 yards and coming in at ninth is Justin Herbert with 3,727.
Since Mahomes is out for the rest the rest of the season, his numbers will stay there. Mayfield likely wouldn’t be able to catch Allen with him playing on Sunday, but the Chargers ruled out Herbert for their last game, so his numbers will stay put.
The two players behind Mayfield at 13 and 14 are Jordan Love, who isn’t playing in Week 18 and Jalen Hurts, who would need 266 yards just to move past Mayfield before he throws a pass on Saturday, is too far away from reaching him.

That means Baker Mayfield needs to throw for 238 yards to get by Herbert, knowing that he won’t be gaining any yards this weekend. Allen is likely to play, so he would move up to ninth and Mayfield would slide into 10th, giving him the top 10 in the NFL incentive.
If Baker Mayfield were to hit his passing touchdowns and passing yards incentive, he would make $1 million for his efforts. He obviously cares more about the Bucs winning on Saturday no matter how it gets done so they can reach the postseason. But if Tampa Bay doesn’t reach the playoffs because of either a loss or the Falcons beat the Saints, having that million in the bank should likely make it hurt less.
