Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield suffered a thumb injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 20-6 win over the Titans. Mayfield hit his right thumb on the helmet of a Titans defender after a throw. The injury was minor in nature and should not be a concern moving forward.

On Monday, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said as much in his press conference.

“Yeah, Baker is good,” Bowles said.

Mayfield was asked about how his thumb felt after Sunday’s game in his post-game press conference. He was not wearing a splint or any type of brace on his banged up thumb.

“Feels good,” Mayfield said.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Mayfield would have some tests on his thumb on Monday morning.

“Baker Mayfield also has an injury that is I would say worth monitoring,” Rapoport said. “Kind of banged his thumb late in the game, I think it was on a helmet, and we’ve actually seen this a couple different times this season. Sometimes it could be nothing, sometimes it could be more severe, and something I would say worth monitoring. He’s going to have some tests today just to determine the severity. He did not miss any snaps. He fought through it at least – that is a good sign moving forward. But certainly something to watch.”

Technically, Mayfield did miss a snap, as backup quarterback Kyle Trask was called upon to kneel down at the end of the game in the victory formation to run out the clock.

Mayfield is expected to practice this week and will start against the 49ers on Sunday in San Francisco.

Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 18-of-29 passes (62.1%) for 278 yards with two touchdowns and one interception against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday to snap Tampa Bay’s four-game losing streak. Sunday was the third straight game with a pair of touchdown passes for Mayfield.

On the year Mayfield has completed 64.6% of his passes for 2,143 yards with 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. His 14 TD passes are the most of any quarterback in the NFC South so far.

Mayfield is also the only quarterback that has been a consistent starter and has stayed healthy enough to play in every game in the NFC South this year. The starting quarterbacks in New Orleans, Carolina and Atlanta have all missed at least one game due to injury.
