Here are some of the best Bucs quotes following their team’s training camp practice on Thursday, August 26 at the AdventHealth Training Center.

Bucs Assistant Head Coach/ Run Game Coordinator Harold Goodwin on RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn:

“As a running back, as far as running the ball, he’s been great. He needs to elevate his game in the passing game from the catching standpoint, protection standpoint – which he worked on in this camp. I think the upside is high for him as long as he continues to focus and do the small things that matter the most. He can be a good football player. He can add value to this team.”

Bucs Assistant Head Coach/ Run Game Coordinator Harold Goodwin on the depth of the offense line this year compared to last year:

“I think it’s a little bit better. Guys like Nick Leverett stepped up big time. He’s the new Earl Watford. He’s the guy that plays all five positions throughout training camp. I think a guy like Brandon [Walton], who we just got from Pittsburgh, who they put on the waiver wire over a week ago has some value. I like our depth. It’s a whole lot better than last year. Brad Seaton is back. He played last week so I’m excited to see what we have at the end of year. As far as who’s on the roster or who’s not on the roster – whoever we pick, I think we’ll be alright.”

Bucs Assistant Head Coach/ Run Game Coordinator Harold Goodwin on having most of the coaching staff come back:

“It’s good. It’s fun. Unfortunately, we lost [Antwaan] Randle El but he got a full-time job so good for him. For us, it’s business as usual. Everybody knows what we’re doing day in and day out. We just have to make sure we pay attention to the details, make sure we’re coaching these guys the proper way and get the job done. Hopefully, we can have a lot of success moving forward here.”

Bucs Linebacker Grant Stuard on playing in his hometown this weekend:

“It’s awesome. I really think it’s probably cooler for my family honestly than it is for me. It’s cool for me because of them. Being able to share this experience with them and hopefully make some plays while in their presence as an NFL guy. That’s cool.”

Bucs Linebacker Grant Stuard on what he needs to do to put good stuff on tape:

“Really for me, I’ve just learned some new stuff. Moving my position around a little bit, challenging me and to really just taking the coaching is the biggest thing I have to show them that I’m able to do. That I’ve improved from last week to this week .Stuff like my kick slide or stuff like making sure im getting my hands in the right place and stuff like that. Not making repeat mistakes and utting good stuff on tape.”

Bucs Linebacker Grant Stuard On the difference from rookie mini-camp to end of training camo and what he’s learned during that time:

“I’d probably say that it’s a grind. I mean camp is camp. I dont know what the seasons going to be like. Every single day your learning something new. Every single day you’re being challenged.Every single day you’re probably going to get some harsh words said to you if you messed up and stuff like that. There’s a lot of stuff, there will be like times where you might want to quit. Times where you don’t want to show up.”

“We’ve had some episodes around the league where guys have a lot of mental health issues because this is very hard on your mental. So I think it was just important for me to be grounded in my faith. I have a wife and a little sister at home and I’m blessed to be able to see them. Blessed to be able to spend a little time with them, them being here.”

That’s why I like B.A., I like the whole staff. Their attitude towards family. Their attitude towards making sure your mental is good, so you’re not getting run out. So that’s been the biggest thing for me. I think it’s like I said, sometimes you can feel like, ahh damn do I even want to be out here. But going home and resetting every night. It’s just a constant, it’s constant, it’s constant every day. If you mess up just one day or if there’s like one day where I just don’t feel like doing it, well you might not be here anymore. So that’s the biggest difference I think coming in.”
