The Bucs will have to trim their roster down from 80 players to 53 for the active roster and 16 practice squad players after a final round of cuts. The deadline for all NFL teams to complete this is by Tuesday at 4:00 p.m ET.
There is competition at wide receiver, inside linebacker, cornerback and more that the Bucs will have to make a decision on to fill out the team. Here is a live and updated list of all the Bucs roster cuts that are reported.
Bucs Roster Cuts
Tuesday Cuts
• Pewter Report is reporting that the Bucs are releasing rookie wide receiver Deven Thompkins. He’s likely to return on the practice squad.
#Bucs are cutting rookie WR Deven Thompkins, who had an impressive camp and preseason. Likely a practice squad candidate.
That move, and the release of Tyler Johnson, bodes well for veteran WRs Scotty Miller, Breshad Perriman and Jaelon Darden.
— PewterReport (@PewterReport) August 30, 2022
• Pewter Report is also reporting that the Bucs are waiving rookie tight end J.J. Howland, who had a promising preseason. He too could be back for the practice squad.
#Bucs also waiving former Yale TE JJ Howland. Had an impressive preseason and could be a practice squad candidate.

• The Athletic’s Greg Auman reports that wide receiver Tyler Johnson won’t be making the 53-man roster. A bit of a surprising move for the Bucs, but good news for veterans Scotty Miller, Breshad Perriman and Jaelon Darden.
Here's a big and surprising cut: Bucs are waiving receiver Tyler Johnson today.

• Auman also reports that running back Patrick Laird has been waived.
Bucs have also waived running back Patrick Laird, who joined the team mid-camp and got a ton of work in second half Saturday. Could be back on practice squad after clearing waivers.

• Aaron Wilson reported that the Bucs are releasing center John Molchon. This move might mean that the Bucs feel good about the injury situation regarding center Robert Hainsey (ankle) and backup center Nick Leverett.

• Auman reports that the Bucs are waiving rookie cornerback Don Gardner, who had an interception versus the Titans in the preseason.
Another move for Bucs, as they're waiving undrafted rookie corner Don Gardner, who had a nice interception in preseason. He's expected back on practice squad.
— Greg Auman (@gregauman) August 30, 2022
• Auman reports that undrafted rookie receiver Kaylon Geiger Sr. has also been waived.
Bucs are waiving undrafted rookie receiver Kaylon Geiger as well, so all three rookie WRs missing the cut. Another candidate to return on practice squad.
— Greg Auman (@gregauman) August 30, 2022
• Pewter Report’s JC Allen is reporting the Bucs have waived defensive lineman Benning Potoa’e.
The #Bucs are waiving defensive lineman Benning Potoa’e. He joined the team as a UDFA in 2020 and has been apart of the practice squad the last two seasons.
— JC Allen (@JCAllenNFL) August 30, 2022
• Auman reports that undrafted inside linebacker J.J. Russell is also being waived.
Bucs are waiving undrafted rookie linebacker J.J. Russell, who impressed in camp out of Memphis. They'd like him back on practice squad. Bucs now have made 15 moves, 12 still to go.

• Auman has another wave of Bucs roster cuts, with kicker Jose Borregales, offensive tackle Dylan Cook, safety Nolan Turner, defensive linemen Mike Greene and Willington Previlon and outside linebackers Elijah Ponder and Jordan Young all waived. Meanwhile, quarterback Ryan Griffin, defensive tackle Deadrin Senat and outside linebacker Genard Avery were released.
Bunch of Bucs cuts to report: K Jose Borregales, OT Dylan Cook, S Nolan Turner, DLs Mike Greene, Benning Potoa'e and Will Previlon, OLBs Elijah Ponder and Jordan Young waived. QB Ryan Griffin, DT Deadrin Senat, OLB Genard Avery released.

Other Tuesday Roster Moves
• The Bucs traded backup linebacker/special teamer Grant Stuard to the Colts for a future draft pick. Click here to read the story for the full details.
• Auman reports that the Bucs are going to put cornerback/special teamer Rashard Robinson on injured reserve. The team will likely work out an injury settlement.
Bucs are putting corner and special-teams ace Rashard Robinson on injured reserve, likely working out an injury settlement. With rookies McMichael and Gardner waived, that leaves Dee Delaney as the fifth cornerback if the Bucs carry one.

Monday Cuts
• The Bucs have waived rookie cornerback Kyler McMichael, per Auman. McMichael was an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina. Cornerback has been one of the more competitive groups when it came to fighting for a roster spot. McMichael found himself behind Zyon McCollum, Don Gardner and Rahsard Robinson in the battle.
Bucs have started making moves to get down to Tuesday's 53-man roster cutdown. Rookie corner Kyler McMichael has been waived. Good shot at returning on practice squad with post-draft guaranteed money.

• Auman has also reported that the Bucs released wide receiver Jerreth Sterns. Signing with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent from Western Kentucky, Sterns was part of a trio of impressive UDFAs with Deven Thompkins and Kaylon Geiger Sr. Sterns dazzled early on showing a ton of athleticism to make catches. However, Sterns is undersized and wasn’t able to translate his highlight plays from practice over to the game. As fast as he was, Thompkins is still faster than him and he was low on the depth chart with incumbent players in Tyler Johnson and Jaelon Darden.
Another cut for Bucs, who are waiving undrafted rookie receiver Jerreth Sterns, who caught a touchdown in preseason opener. Led I-A in catches, yards, TDs at Western Kentucky last year, but size works against him more in the NFL.

• Tampa Bay waived outside linebacker Andre Anthony, per Auman. Anthony was drafted in the seventh round this year by the Bucs out of LSU. While he had a slow start to camp, he really turned it on in recent weeks by recording a sack in each road game against the Titans and the preseason finale at the Colts. It’s merely a numbers game for Anthony. The Bucs are stacked at outside linebacker with Shaq Barrett, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Anthony Nelson. They then signed Carl Nassib two weeks ago and Genard Avery the previous week. Anthony seems like a great candidate for the practice squad.
• Pewter Report’s J.C. Allen is reporting that the Bucs are waving offensive guard Sadarius Hutcherson. The offensive lineman rejoined the team after tearing his ACL as a rookie. With an important competition going on this training camp for starting left guard, Hutcherson wasn’t in the running for the reps that were shared between Luke Goedeke, Aaron Stinnie and Nick Leverett. With Stinnie out for the season, it’s down to Goedeke and Leverett for the job.
The #Bucs are waiving guard Sadarius Hutcherson. He joined the team as an UDFA in 2021 out of South Carolina but missed the entire season due to injury and couldn’t crack through a deep position group this camp.
— JC Allen (@JCAllenNFL) August 29, 2022
• The Bucs turned their attention to the safety position. They waived Chris Cooper, who made the 53-man roster at the start of last season. This year with additions of Logan Ryan and Keanu Neal amongst others, Cooper has another good chance at returning to the practice squad. He’s a solid player on special teams, which will help. It’s a crowded room back there with Antoine Winfield Jr, Mike Edwards and Nolan Turner as well.
Bucs have waived safety Chris Cooper, who made last year's initial roster but spent the season on practice squad. Good special-teams player, could be back on practice squad.
— Greg Auman (@gregauman) August 29, 2022
• Auman reports that the Bucs also cut safety Troy Warner. That leaves the rookie Turner from Clemson as the only possible safety outside of the more established room that still has an opportunity to make the 53-man roster. With Ryan, Neal, Winfield and Edwards, it’s not guaranteed that the Bucs will keep a fifth player at the position.
• In the most surprising move yet, the Bucs are releasing wide receiver Tyler Johnson, per Auman. This was not expected after Johnson had a great training camp. He also was solid in the preseason games, recording 11 catches for 133 yards. The one blemish was an ugly drop in the preseason finale, but he quickly made up for it with a fourth down reception. Johnson has been on the team for the last three seasons and was expected to be the fifth wide receiver. That leaves Scotty Miller, Jaelon Darden, Breshad Perriman, Deven Thompkins and Kaylon Geiger Jr. in the running for the last two receiver openings.
Bucs gave Tyler Johnson a long look with receivers injured last year — 55 targets in the regular season, and while he had 36 catches for 360 yards, he had no touchdowns, and there was a sense of a missed opportunity for him. He's talented enough he'll be a top waiver claim.
