The 2025 NFL schedule is set to release at 8:00 p.m. ET Wednesday night, but there are always leaks — and some announcements about who the Bucs are playing and when — swirling around throughout the days leading up to the official drop.
That means we can work at piecing together the Bucs’ 2025 slate in the hours leading up to the official release.
Tampa Bay has known its opponents for the upcoming season since the 2024 campaign ended. Todd Bowles’ team has eight home games and nine road games, with the opponents as follows:

HOME:
Arizona Cardinals
San Francisco 49ers
New England Patriots
New York Jets
Philadelphia Eagles
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
New Orleans Saints
AWAY:

Seattle Seahawks

Detroit Lions

New Orleans Saints
Tampa Bay will face five teams from the 2024 postseason field, with just one — the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles — coming to Raymond James Stadium.
The full schedule will be unveiled Wednesday night, and based on the teaser posted by the team on Tuesday night, expect Super Bowl XXXVII-winning head coach Jon Gruden to be involved in the release video.

10:00 AM ET – It has been reported that the Bucs will be playing the Falcons in Atlanta to kick off the season (see below), with the other game in Tampa Bay potentially being in primetime. 11Alive News’ Maria Martin shared Wednesday morning that the Dirty Birds will be getting five primetime games this season, with one of them being a Thursday Night Football matchup with their NFC South division rival.
Hello #Falcons in prime time ⭐️
They are being given 5, yes FIVE primetime games this year, league sources tells me.
2 MNF – Bills/Rams at home
2 SNF – Vikings/49ers on the road
1 TNF – @ Bucs— Maria Martin (@Ria_Martin) May 14, 2025
If this ends up being the case, it will mean that the Bucs could exact some Thursday night revenge on the Falcons. If you remember, last year quarterback Kirk Cousins torched Tampa Bay’s defense to the tune of 509 passing yards and four touchdowns in a 36-30 win. Cousins likely will not be under center in the next matchup as quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has taken the reins, but it would be entertaining regardless.

According to multiple reports, the Bucs are set to open the 2025 regular season with a big-time NFC South matchup against the Falcons in Atlanta.
A road game would make sense, as the Tampa Bay Rays have a home game across the street at Steinbrenner Field on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 12:10 p.m. Of note, the Rays also play at home on Sept. 21, which is Week 3 of the NFL season. So, Bowles and Co. may be on the road that week as well.

10:00 AM ET – There have also been reports about the Bucs playing on the road against the Rams on Thanksgiving night. However, Pewter Report has heard otherwise.
I have a trustworthy friend who's got a source telling him it's going to be @Buccaneers at @RamsNFL as the nightcap on Thanksgiving! #Bucs #WeAreTheKrewe #RamsHouse pic.twitter.com/qhRsNBLRpJ

Not so sure about the rumors of a Bucs at Rams game on Thanksgiving in primetime…

UPDATE AT 12:30 PM ET – Reports have surfaced that the Bucs will also be on the road in Week 2, but it will be their first primetime game of the season with the Bucs playing at the Texans on Monday Night Football. Tampa Bay struggled in primetime last season going winless in five chances including the postseason.
Playing in Houston was also a horror show defensively the last time the Bucs played the Texans in 2023 as the Bucs lost 39-37 allowing a late touchdown drive with under a minute to go. The Bucs have a new and improved defense this time around as they goup against quarterback C.J. Stroud and company.

UPDATE AT 12:30 PM ET – The Bucs finally make their home debut in Week 3 as they host the New York Jets. This is the first time that Todd Bowles as the head coach of the Bucs faces the Jets, who was the team he previously was a head coach for. With that said, Bowles and the Bucs did have a joint training camp practice with the Jets at their facility in 2023 along with a preseason game.
There’s plenty of new looks with the Jets starting with Aaron Glenn as the new head coach. Bowles and Glenn have a good relationship. New York also has a new quarterback in Justin Fields, who last played the Bucs as the Bears quarterback in 2023.
While it’s not exactly a revenge game for Bowles, it very much could be Hasson Reddick facing his former team. Reddick was traded to the Jets last season but didn’t come to training camp over a contract dispute. He finally played in the last week of Octobe but it was a down year with one sack as the team struggled. He signed with the Bucs this offseaosn looking to prove he should be paid as a top pass rusher. This is a very winnable game for the Bucs to start out 1-0 at Raymond James Stadium as the Jets have a long way to go to be competitive.

UPDATE AT 2:00 PM ET – Pewter Report can officially confirm that the Bucs will be playing at the Rams on Sunday Night Football on November 23. They will not be playing on Thanksgiving as other reports have said. Tampa Bay has had a difficult time against Los Angeles in recent matchups and this contest is of the tougher opponents that the Bucs have this season. This is the Bucs’ second primetime game so far.
I can confirm that the Bucs at Rams game will NOT be on Thanksgiving in primetime as I previously alluded to. Instead, it will be played on Sunday Night Football on November 23 in Los Angeles. https://t.co/HgcmyLRAeD

UPDATE AT 2:00 PM ET – Leaks of the Dolphins schedule has come out that has the Bucs traveling in the same state of Florida heading to Miami to play the Dolphins in Week 17, the second to last game of the regular season. Miami typically has a high flying offense, but injuries have derailed them in recent years. Mike McDaniel has a great offensive mind and that makes it a good matchup against Todd Bowles and his defensive system.
