The Bucs are getting some help in the secondary as the team activated safety Rashad Wisdom from injured reserve on Wednesday. Tampa Bay had previously opened the 21-day window for him to get activated and this was the last week to do so. To make room for him, the Bucs waived safety Kaevon Merriweather.

Wisdom played in two games this season. He was in for the season opener at Atlanta and then in Week 4 at home against the Eagles. These were the first career games of his career as he was on Tampa Bay’s practice squad in 2024 but made the 53-man roster in 2025. All of his snaps came on special teams, getting 25 total.

Bucs Get A Good Turnout At Practice

Its likely that Wisdom doesn’t have much of an impact on defense in his return because Tykee Smith was able participate on Wednesday. Also coming back was inside linebackers SirVocea Dennis and tight end Cade Otton.

All three players weren’t able to go for the Bucs’ Thursday night loss to the Falcons. But with extra days off, they were able to return for their following matchup against the Panthers, which is essentially a playoff game.

The only player that did not participate for the Bucs on Wednesday was inside linebacker Lavnte David, who typically doesn’t end up practicing until Friday anyway. Here is the full injury report for the Bucs and Panthers ahead of their big matchup.
