Brown’s 10 days on the list are up, and he will re-join his teammates on the practice field Thursday. Brown was originally placed on the list on September 22, missing the Bucs’ Week 3 contest against the Los Angeles Rams. Through two games this season, Brown has six receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown.
The Patriots defense has allowed a passer rating of 30.3 on 10+ yard throws this season, per Pro Football Focus. Getting Brown back will help a Bucs offense that is now without Scotty Miller. The speedy receiver was placed on injured reserve with turf toe on Wednesday. This weekend’s game will also be a homecoming of sorts for Brown, who played one game with the Patriots in 2019.
The team also announced that wide receiver Travis Jonsen was activated from the reserve/COVID list. Jonsen was put on the list on September 20, the same date as linebacker Kevin Minter. His return put the practice squad over its’ 16-player limit. In a corresponding move, the Bucs released guard Jonathan Hubbard from the practice squad. Hubbard originally signed with the team on August 23 during training camp. He was waived at the end of cut downs, but re-signed to the team’s practice squad after clearing waivers.
