With return specialist Kenjon Barner being placed on the injured reserve earlier in the week, the Bucs have signed receiver Jaydon Mickens to the active roster. Mickens handled punt and kick return duties earlier in the season for Tampa Bay, returning 15 punts and 12 kickoffs in 2020, but hasn’t been active for a game since finding himself on the NFL’s Reserve/COVID-19 list after the Bucs’ Week 9 loss to New Orleans.
Head coach Bruce Arians talked about the Bucs’ options for the return game on Monday, providing a number of players who could handle return duties on Sunday should Mickens not be active for Tampa Bay’s Week 17 match-up against the Atlanta Falcons.
“It’s still a game-time decision on who’s going to be active,” Arians said. “But Scotty Miller can return punts, Antonio [Brown] can return punts, Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Tyler Johnson can return kicks so we’re in good shape as far as that goes. If Jaydon [Mickens] is up, he’ll do it.”
