Latest Bucs Headlines

In a poorly played 20-18 loss to the Steelers on Sunday afternoon, it’s hard to single out many Bucs players as “impressive.” However, there were a few who stepped up and had strong performances, so here are the most impressive players from Sunday’s game in Pittsburgh:

Ryan Succop

Succop was perfect on the day, making all four of his field goal attempts, including one from 54-yards out. The 54-yarder was the longest in his tenure with the Bucs and the longest he’s hit since 2018.

Antoine Winfield Jr.

Winfield has been a playmaker for the Bucs all year, and that didn’t change against the Steelers. He first showed up on the defense’s opening drive, coming up with a big tackle for loss on Najee Harris. Then, he again made his presence felt with a huge 12-yard sack on Kenny Pickett on third down to force a punt. Winfield got tied up in coverage with Chase Claypool a few times toward the end of the game, but he mostly had a solid day yet again.

Jamel Dean

Dean continued his tight coverage on Sunday against the Steelers. Dean also saved a touchdown on the opening kickoff of the second half. Coming across the field, he chased down Steelers returner Steven Sims to take him down at the 12-yard line, nearly knocking the ball loose in the process.

Leonard Fournette

While he struggled to gain consistent yards in the running game, Fournette finished the day with 63 yards on the ground. His three yards per carry average was less than ideal, but he did have some nice runs, including a long of 13 yards. He also showed up once again in the passing game, totaling six receptions for 38 yards and the team’s only touchdown. The catch and run showed Fournette’s skills as a receiver and bruiser, as he barreled over several defenders for the score.

Carl Nassib

In a game where there isn’t much praise to pass out, we’ll reach a bit here. Nassib had a nice tipped pass on a third-down play that forced the Steelers to punt. This came on the same drive that he created a sack opportunity for Devin White.

Ko Kieft

Kieft showed up on special teams with two big tackles that forced the Steelers to start drives from inside their own 20. He also had a hard cracking block that sprang Leonard Fournette loose for a big gain.

Bucs Wr Chris Godwin

Chris Godwin

It wasn’t always pretty, but Godwin came up with some big catches and key third down conversions for the Bucs. He and Brady seemed to be off on Sunday, but the pair still managed to connect on six passes for 95 yards. The Pro Bowl receiver was targeted 12 times on the day, so the 50% catch rate left a bit to be desired. That connection will need to be in better sync next week when the Bucs face the Panthers.
