As the Bucs look for their next offensive coordinator, they will not be allowing the Jaguars to do the same with their coaches. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Tampa Bay will not be allowing offensive line coach Kevin Carberry to interview to become Liam Coen’s offensive coordinator in Jacksonville.
The #Jaguars requested to interview #Bucs offensive line coach Kevin Carberry for a similar role but were blocked by Tampa Bay, per sources.
New head coach Liam Coen, former Bucs OC, had success with Carberry last year and looked into bringing him along.

The Bucs are not allowing Kevin Carberry to interview for a promotion, but that does not mean the organization does not think highly of him. After joining the team with Liam Coen this past season after the two worked together with the Rams, the energetic Carberry helped the offensive line reach new heights.
Under his tutelage, Tristan Wirfs completed his All-Pro transition to left tackle, Ben Bredeson held his own at left guard, Graham Barton showed promise learning a new position, Cody Mauch drastically improved, and Luke Goedeke continued to settle in at right tackle. The growth each of them had in the trenches was evident – and a product of coaching. Carberry has a resume of building up offensive lines, and in turn, it allowed the run game to go from dead-last to top-five.
The news of the Bucs blocking Carberry from an interview means that none of the team’s other assistants will be in consideration to become Coen’s top offensive lieutenant. It is no surprise for them to say no – not after all that has transpired after their offensive coordinator went behind their backs and left them in the dark to take another job.
For now, Carberry has not had an interview to replace Coen in Tampa Bay, but there is no question that the 41-year-old is a coach they would like to hold onto going forward.
