The Bucs have secured the 19th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft due to the team’s 8-9 record and playoff berth during the 2022 season. Tampa Bay won’t have its fourth-round pick this year after trading it away last year in order to move up into the fifth round to select Sam Houston cornerback Zyon McCollum.

But the team will likely secure an extra compensatory pick or two this year due to losses in free agency from last year. According to OverTheCap.com’s Nick Korte, the Bucs should receive a fifth-round compensatory pick from the NFL for the loss of free agent safety Jordan Whitehead to the New York Jets. Korte also has Tampa Bay receiving a seventh-round compensatory pick for tight end O.J. Howard signing with Buffalo in free agency.

The Bucs feel certain that they’ll receive the extra fifth-rounder for Whitehead, and are hopeful for the additional seventh-rounder, too.
