It was decided Sunday afternoon that the 8-9 Bucs would be hosting the 12-5 Cowboys on Super Wild Card Weekend, with the date and time to be announced. After the playoff field was set late Sunday night, the NFL announced the full first-round schedule, with Tampa Bay and Dallas slated to close out the six-game slate on Monday Night Football.

Wild Card Weekend became “Super Wild Card Weekend” in 2022, with the NFL sliding one of the games from the previously expanded playoff field into a Monday night time slot. So, it’ll be the Bucs and Cowboys squaring off at Raymond James Stadium next Monday night, Jan. 16, with kickoff scheduled for 8:15 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPN and ABC.

The extra day of rest could prove helpful for Tampa Bay as it looks to get healthier heading into the postseason. Several players were held out of the team’s Week 18 game to rest up, while others were banged up in the 30-17 loss to the Falcons in Atlanta.

The Bucs, coming off a crushing NFC Divisional Round loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams at home last year, will look to return to the second round for the third straight season. The Cowboys, on the other hand, are looking for their first playoff win since 2018. Not to mention, Dallas will also be looking to snap an eight-game road losing streak in the playoffs.

The game will be a rematch of the last two season openers for these teams. Tampa Bay beat Dallas, 31-29, at Raymond James Stadium to open the 2021 season before kicking off the 2022 season with a 19-3 win at AT&T Stadium last September.

The Cowboys opened up as three-point road favorites over the Bucs, per MyBookie.
