The Bucs improved to 4-2 after crushing the Saints, 51-27, in New Orleans on Sunday.

Tampa Bay crushed some team records in the process, especially on offense.

Led by new offensive coordinator Liam Coen, the Bucs generated 594 net yards of offense, which is the most in a single game in franchise history. That surpassed the previous mark of 588 yards in Week 16 of the 2020 season against the Detroit Lions.

The Bucs’ 594 net yards of offense are also the most by any NFL team this year. In the second half alone, Tampa Bay scored 27 points on offense and generated 300+ yards of offense, becoming just the fourth team since 2000 to accomplish the feat.

The Bucs’ 51 points was the second-most points scored in any game in franchise history. The team record of 55 points came in Week 4 in 2019 against the Los Angeles Rams. Tampa Bay scored six offensive touchdowns in that game, plus a defensive touchdown on a 37-yard fumble recovery by defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

The Bucs matched that total in New Orleans on Sunday. Quarterback Baker Mayfield threw four touchdown passes and running backs Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker each scored a rushing touchdown. In his first game back from a foot injury, free safety Antoine Winfield Jr. scored a defensive touchdown on a 58-yard fumble recovery.

The 51 points allowed marks the most the Saints have given up in a game since Week 14 of the 2012 season when they surrendered 52 points to the New York Giants. Today’s contest was just the second time that a visiting team has ever scored 50+ points in the Superdome, joining the Indianapolis Colts in 2003 (55).

Sunday’s victory was the second-most lopsided victory by Tampa Bay over New Orleans in franchise history, trailing only the 48-21 (+27) win over the Saints in Week 15 of the 2001 season.

• Under new offensive coordinator Liam Coen, Tampa Bay has now scored 30 or more points in four of the team’s six games this season. That’s the first time in franchise history that has happened, according to ESPN research.

• The Bucs became the fifth team in NFL history to record 300+ net passing yards and 275+ net rushing yards in a single game, joining the Miami Dolphins in 2023, San Francisco 49ers in 2012, Dallas Cowboys in 1978 and Green Bay Packers in 1962.

• Tampa Bay rushed for 277 yards on 35 carries, and averaged 7.9 yards per carry. It was the third-most rushing yards in a single game in Bucs history, and the largest since the franchise-record of 283 rushing yards against the Eagles in Week 11 in 2015. The 7.9 yards per carry is the second-highest mark in a game with 30+ rushing attempts in franchise history, trailing only an 8.7 average across 32 carries in Week 9 of the 2012 season at Oakland.

• Sunday’s 51-27 victory marked the second time in franchise history that the Bucs have recorded 300+ net yards of passing offense and 200+ net yards of rushing offense in the same game, joining Week 10 of the 2020 season against the Carolina Panthers.

• Bucs head coach Todd Bowles is now 4-1 in their last five games versus the Saints, including a 3-0 record in New Orleans. Tampa Bay is now 11-2 (.846) when the team rushes for 100+ yards under Bowles, which is the best record among coaches with their current teams (minimum of 10 games).

• Tampa Bay running back Sean Tucker recorded a career-high 192 total yards from scrimmage and two total touchdowns. Tucker ran for a game-high 136 rushing yards on 14 carries (9.7 average) and added 56 receiving yards on three catches.

Entering the game, Tucker had totaled 30 rushing yards and 23 receiving yards in his career. Tucker became the fourth running back (sixth time) in franchise history to amass 192-or-more scrimmage yards and score multiple touchdowns in a single game, joining Doug Martin (2012, twice), Warrick Dunn (2000, twice), and James Wilder (1984).

• Bucs running back Bucky Irving  eclipsed 100 total yards from scrimmage and scored a rushing touchdown. Irving had 81 rushing yards on 14 carries (5.8 avg.) and two receptions for 24 yards.

Today’s game marked the fourth time in franchise history that two Tampa Bay running backs have accounted for 100+ scrimmage yards and each scored at least one touchdown in a single game, joining Mike Alstott and Warrick Dunn (1997, 1998), and Mike Alstott and Errict Rhett (1996).
