The Tampa Bay Bucs have begun making their roster cuts in order to trim their roster to 53 players by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The first known cut is veteran cornerback Antonio Hamilton, and was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Hamilton’s release is a bit of a surprise given his special teams experience and the fact that he played well in coverage in training camp and in the first preseason game. However, Hamilton was a slot cornerback during camp and the preseason, but head coach Bruce Arians said that the team had enough defensive backs that could play inside and that the team needed more outside cornerbacks.
That’s why Dee Delaney will make the roster. He had two interceptions as an outside cornerback and broke up a two-point conversion attempt in addition to making six tackles against the Texans. Hamilton, who is entering his sixth year in the NFL, did not play well in the preseason finale at Houston. The Bucs signed Hamilton this offseason after he played in Kansas City during the 2019 season. Hamilton previously played two years in New York with the Giants (2018-19) and two years in Oakland (2016-17).
Delaney posted this tweet on Twitter on Monday morning, a likely indication that he’s made the Bucs’ 53-man roster. At least for now.
Thank you God!
