The Bucs are elevating offensive guard Michael Jordan and running back Owen Wright from the practice squad for Tampa Bay’s Monday night football game at the Detroit Lions. This is the third and final practice squad elevation for Jordan and the second straight activation for Wright in consecutive weeks.

Bucs Likely Elevated A Starter

Elevating Jordan for this game could prove to be a big time move. It likely means that he will be starting on the offensive line at right guard. The veteran Jordan was elevated for the first two games of the season playing left guard as the Bucs defeated the Falcons and Texans. He injured his knee and has been out ever since, but did return back to practice this week.

With Cody Mauch out for the season, Tampa Bay had Luke Haggard and Elijah Klein start at guard in Week 3 with Jordan out and let tackle Tristan Wirfs still out. When Wirfs returned in Week 4, the Bucs were able to move Graham Barton and Ben Bredeson back to their regular positions of center and guard, keeping Haggard at right guard and Klein backing up. But Haggard was injured in last week’s game during their win against the 49ers and Klein ended up playing in the fourth quarter.

Haggard is out for Monday’s game so Tampa Bay had the option of going with Klein or Dan Feeney at the guard position, along with calling up Jordan. This will be Jordan’s third game, but his first at right guard. It’s evident that Tampa Bay believes in him the most and it’ll be interesting to see if they eventually sign him to the 53-man roster given that he has no more elevations from the practice squad this season.

The Bucs are once again without Bucky Irving and Josh Williams, so Wright getting called up doesn’t come as a surprise. He will back up starting running back Rachaad White and second string back Sean Tucker. While he was with the Bucs in training camp, he signed to Tampa Bay two weeks ago and ends up getting two straight call ups for games. He got an offensive snap last week when the Bucs were in victory formation. Hopefully Bucs fans see him again in that formation on Monday night.
