Latest Bucs Headlines

The Bucs made two big in-season additions to their practice squad this week, and both could make their season debut on Sunday. Wide receiver Breshad Perriman and tight end Darren Fells have been elevated this week ahead of the Bucs’ game against Washington, Tampa announced.

Perriman and Fells both have experience in the system from different points in their career. Perriman played for Arians and the Bucs in 2019. Fells played for Arians in Arizona with the Cardinals from 2014-2016. With Antonio Brown out and Chris Godwin playing through a foot injury, Perriman gives the team an experienced veteran option in the passing game. Scotty Miller will likely be inactive this week, and Perriman could help the offense with speed on the outside.

In his only season with the Bucs, Perriman reeled in 36 catches for 645 yard and six touchdowns. He was most productive in the final six games of the season when injuries thrusted him into a starting role. That experience in the offense has Arians feeling comfortable with Perriman’s elevation.

Fells is a better all around tight end option than Howard or Brate. During his time with the Lions, PFF graded him as the second best pass blocking tight end in the NFL. He is also a reliable receiver with 127 catches over his 8-year career, tallying 1526 yards and 21 touchdowns. In fact, he has not dropped a pass since 2019, and he has 11 touchdowns over that span.

His blocking prowess will allow for a more unpredictable game plan with fewer Josh Wells snaps at jumbo tight end. He also adds a viable red zone threat something the Bucs have missed with Rob Gronkowski out.
