The start of training camp is the clear sign that a new Bucs season is well on its way, but another, more subtle reminder can be seen by anyone driving up and down Dale Mabry Highway and Himes Avenue in late July. Of course, that reminder is the presence of new player murals occupying the four corners of Raymond James Stadium.

During the the 2024 offseason, Tampa Bay unveiled the slogan “We Are The Krewe,” which serves as a celebration of the camaraderie and unity of the Bucs and their fan base. The newly updated murals at Raymond James Stadium are a reflection of that, with the big signage on the back of the video boards in the north and south end zones displaying the phrase “Home of the Krewe.”
Plus, the corner murals themselves have a nod to each player and the year they joined Tampa Bay — and the Krewe.
The first glimpses of the new murals came from Skip, a Bucs fan on Twitter/X, who posted pictures of Lavonte David (northeast corner) and Mike Evans (northwest corner) on July 17. David is the longest-tenured member of the Bucs, as he was drafted by the team in 2012. Evans was drafted two years later, going No. 7 overall in 2014.

The next mural popped up soon after, with Skip posting a picture on July 21. That one, which occupied the southwest corner, featured quarterback Baker Mayfield, who signed with the team in 2023 and re-signed on a new three-year deal this offseason.

The southeast corner mural was still blank when Tampa Bay opened training camp on Wednesday, but on Thursday, it was finished, with All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr. getting that spot.
Mike Evans (Krewe Since ‘14), Lavonte David (Krewe Since ‘12) and Baker Mayfield (Krewe Since ‘23) murals had already been shared on here (shoutout @gregauman and @its_skip_b). The fourth corner is Antoine Winfield Jr. (Krewe Since ‘20). #WeAreTheKrewe pic.twitter.com/MEpuqswEJ5

Core Four Free Agents Occupy Corners Of Bucs’ Home Stadium

While it’s easy to feel like some key Bucs were snubbed from appearing on the corners of Raymond James Stadium this year — Tristan Wirfs, Chris Godwin and Vita Vea, just to name a few — the four who were chosen to represent “The Krewe” were Tampa Bay’s biggest free agents this offseason.
In a way, it feels like a celebration of the job that general manager Jason Licht, assistant general manager and cap wizard Mike Greenberg, fellow cap wizard Jackie Davidson and the rest of the front office did in retaining those core players and setting the Bucs up for a big season in 2024.
Lavonte David was re-signed on another one-year deal to play his 13th season for Tampa Bay, while Mike Evans inked a two-year deal that will keep him a Buc for his 11th and 12th NFL seasons while setting him up to stay with the team even longer. Baker Mayfield signed a three-year, $100 million deal after a career revival in 2023, and he now has a team he can truly call his own after bouncing between Cleveland, Carolina and Los Angeles during the 2022 calendar year.
And then there’s Winfield, the man who had a stellar 2023 season that earned him an All-Pro nod before he became the highest-paid defensive back in the league. He signed a four-year, $84.1 million deal to stay with the Bucs this offseason, giving him a chance to build on an already-impressive Tampa Bay career that began when the team selected him in the second round of the 2020 Draft.
So, there you have it. Football is back, the murals are up and Raymond James Stadium is ready to welcome back the Buccaneer faithful, first for the team’s preseason finale against the Dolphins on Aug. 23 and then for the regular season opener against the Commanders on Sept. 8.
