The Bucs just got out of hot water over Tom Brady’s home encounter with Byron Leftwich and they may have just escaped another situation from the NFL with Brady’s pal and new Bucs tight end, Rob Gronkowksi.
The three-time Super Bowl champion said that he was just joking around about a comment he made about receiving a Bucs playbook earlier than he should have.
While hosting the Bud Light Seltzer party on Youtube Live after the NFL Draft on Saturday, Gronkowksi mentioned that he had received the Bucs’ playbook before he was technically even traded. The Bucs traded for Gronkowski on April 21st.
“I was in a Tampa Bay playbook four weeks ago, Gronkowski said. “And I wasn’t even on the team.”
This would be against league rules since Gronkowksi was not on the team yet, and Pro Football Talk reported that this may have been a violation or two. With teams complaining about the Brady story, it’s no surprise that they wouldn’t be happy about Gronkowski either.
Gronkowski publicly addressed the news over social media to clear everything up, saying all he was doing was joking around along with showing a picture of new, unopened package with a playbook inside and tape still wrapped around it.
“Is this seriously a story? Lol! I was just joking around with Sage as I pretty much the whole time that night when I was co-hosting the show. Wowsers, my co-hosting skills on point!! Lol!! I actually just received my team-issued Surface today from the Bucs and it’s still in the package, and hoping it is all pictures and drawings. I’m pumped to open it one day hopefully soon and follow the arrow to learn where to run to. Gronk run Gronk catch ball. No playbook needed. Hehe.”
