It's time to turn the page from the Bucs after starting the season 1-0 with a road win over the Falcons. Now the focus is on their Monday night game against the Texans in Houston. There's a lot of intriguing storylines going into this one, which includes the Bucs being undefeated in the first two games of the season since Todd Bowles has been head coach, but also the fact that Tampa Bay went winless in five primetime games last season.
Something has to give in Week 2.
The Bucs are considered a top team in the NFC, while the Texans are on the rise as well with a stifling defense, a star quarterback in C.J. Stroud and two straight postseason appearances. It should make for a highly anticipated matchup with all of the NFL world watching.
Bucs' Stars Catch Eye Of Texans Head Coach Demeco Ryans
While we spoke to Bucs head coach Todd Bowles on Monday and will resume media availability on Thursday with Bowles and Co., the Texans had their coach DeMeco Ryans talk on Tuesday. He had a lot of great things to say about all the best Tampa Bay players that his team will face in Week 2.
"One thing I would say about the Bucs, Baker Mayfield, he's playing the best he's played in his career," Ryans said. "Todd has done a really nice job of working with Baker. The passing game; they were first in the league in passing last year. They were top 5 in pretty much all the major offensive categories last year, and it shows."

While Baker Mayfield didn't have a top level passing game in Week 1, he saved his best for last on the Bucs' game winning drive. He ended up going 4-of-5 for 48 yards and touchdown to Emeka Egbuka, his second scoring catch of the game.
Speaking of Egbuka, Ryans also had a lot to say about the rookie sensation after tipping his cap to Mike Evans.
"They have weapons at receiver," he said. "Mike Evans has done it for a long time, continues to shine. The young kid, Egbuka, has done a really nice job making some explosive plays. He showed up big time for them in their game versus Atlanta. And Baker, he does a really nice job of just moving around, scrambling in the pocket, keeping plays alive. You see toughness, you see grittiness from Baker, which allows their passing game to thrive."

Vita Vea Could Have Huge Game On Monday
There's a big storyline going into Monday's game about the stingy Bucs defensive line and the battered Texans offensive line. Houston center Jake Andrews suffered a high ankle sprain in the Texans' loss to the Rams on Sunday and will miss several weeks. That means the Bucs are going to have nose tackle Vita Vea and defensive lineman Calijah Kancey going up against a backup center.
Vea had a good first game outside of a roughing the passer penalty. His highlight moment was a tackle on fourth-and-1 to give the ball back to Tampa Bay. When talking about the defense, Vea is the first person that will gain the attention of the opponent.

"Another great defensive line, starting with Vita Vea," Ryans said. "He's a force in the middle. Does a really nice job run stopping. They drop him back in coverage a little bit, too, so he's a very versatile player. But their front comes from Todd's philosophy. He's going to bring a lot of exotic pressures. There's pressures from safeties, nickels, like, everybody is coming, and they do a really good job of disguising it."
