The Bucs continue to bring in players for official 30 visits, the latest one is Texas A&M defensive tackle Shemar Turner, who is considered to be a second-round pick in this year’s draft.

MLFootball broke the news on X on Wednesday.

Turner posted 115 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and three forced fumbles in four years at Texas A&M. He had a career-high six sacks, 11 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in 2023, but only produced two quarterback captures, six tackles for loss and one forced fumble last year as a senior.

Turner is one of six known draft prospects who either have or will visited Tampa Bay this offseason. The Bucs have scheduled five visits with defensive players and one visit with an offensive player so far. Shemar Turner Could Provide Depth At DT For The Bucs

Texas A&M defensive tackle Shemar Turner is a bit undersized at 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, but plays with a very high motor. He has a true intensity about his game and is relentless in pursuit of the ball, whether that’s as a pass rusher or a chasing down ball-carriers.

He doesn’t have the longest arms at just under 34 inches and that does affect his pass rush production. With Tampa Bay reserve defensive tackle Logan Hall entering a contract year in 2025, the Bucs could look to bolster the team’s depth there as well as drafting his eventual replacement should Hall leave in free agency next year.

Will Gholston will turn 34 in July and is an unrestricted free agent. The team wants to get younger and quicker at the defensive tackle position, and that could be another reason the Bucs are scouting some of the top defensive tackles in this year’s draft.

The depth at the defensive tackle position is immense this season with 27 defensive tackles receiving a draftable grade from the NFL. Defensive tackle is not an immediate need for the Bucs with starters Vita Vea and Calijah Kancey under contract for the next two years, but there is a need to improve the quality of the team’s depth at the position.
