The Bucs only have one day and a couple more visits remaining on their top-30 visits and decided to host UCLA running back Zach Charbonnet on Wednesday, per Tom Pelissero.

Charbonnet is a physical running back that can also has versatility as a pass catcher as well. He’s shown a nice ability to break tackles when taking on defenders in the open field.

After his first two years of his college career at Michigan, Charbonnet really tool off once he transferred to UCLA. Between 2021-22 he ran for 2,469 yards with 27 touchdowns and an average of 6.3 yards per attempt. As a receiver, he recorded 618 yards on 51 catches.

He seems to be a hot commodity around the league as Pelissero reports that Charbonnet has met with 30 teams.

In Pewter Report’s 2023 draft preview at running back, Chabronnet was ranked third among the group. Here is what Scott Reynolds had to say about him.

Charbonnet is a bruising running back with great contact balance. He gets to full speed quickly and has the talent to elude would-be tacklers or barrel through them. The Michigan transfer had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons for the Bruins and averaged 7.0 yards per carry his senior season. Charbonnet totaled 39 rushing touchdowns in four years between Michigan and UCLA.

Despite being a bigger back, Charbonnet is a smooth receiver. He totaled 75 catches for 589 yards (7.9 avg.) in four years. He’s a complete back that figures to be a Day 2 pick.

Tampa Bay will be looking to add one more running back to the mix in their room. Rachaad White, Ke’Shawn Vaughn Chase Edmonds are the top three on the depth chart while Patrick Laird could make the practice squad again.

Odds are the Bucs will select a running back on Day 3 of the draft or bring in an undrafted free agent for the fourth spot on the depth chart. Charbonnet is projected to go on Day 2 but it would be intriguing if the Bucs were to select him, as he would make a good case to compete for the backup job to White during his rookie season.
