The Bucs use Top 30 visits to not only bring in top draft prospects to meet with Tampa Bay’s coaches and scouts. The team also brings in players that are considered to be late Day 3 or priority undrafted free agents in hopes to woo them in post-draft free agency if they are not selected. One of those players, Oklahoma interior offensive lineman Chris Murray, visited with the Bucs on Monday, according to Jordan Schultz.

Murray, who does not carry a draftable grade per Pro Football Focus, was an All-Big XII honorable mention as a senior. He played guard for the Sooners on an offensive line that featured left tackle Anton Harrison, a first-round prospect, and right tackle Wanya Morris, who is considered to be a mid-round prospect. The 6-foot-3, 308-pound Murray ran a 5.27 at the Oklahoma pro day.

The Bucs have shown interest in multiple centers this offseason. Tampa Bay had a formal interview with Wisconsin center Joe Tippmann at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Bucs also met informally with Penn State’s Juice Scruggs, who also had a Zoom meeting with the team after the Combine, and Oregon’s Alex Forsyth in Indy. Tampa Bay wanted to have a formal meeting with Forsyth, but he ran out of his allotted times.

Are The Bucs Concerned About Ryan Jensen’s Recovery?

Is this an indication that the Bucs are somewhat concerned about Ryan Jensen’s full recovery from a knee injury that he cost him all of the 2022 season? Jensen was able to suit and start for the Bucs in their playoff loss to the Cowboys, but did not play well.

Or is this just Tampa Bay doing its due diligence when it comes to scouting all prospects? We’re not sure, but with Jensen turning 33 this year the Bucs could have an eye towards the future at the center position – even though the Bucs have Robert Hainsey under contract for two more years.

Murray is the fifth known Top 30 visit for the Bucs. Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, Bowling Green defensive tackle Karl Brooks, Sacramento State linebacker Marte Mapu and Georgia outside linebacker Nolan Smith are the other known Tampa Bay Top 30 visits so far.
